Air filter questions
Hello,
I have some questions regarding the Camaro air filter. After 2 years, I have changed my air filter and my cabin air filter, today. No question, the cabin air filter had to be replaced. But I'm not sure whether it was necessary to replace the air filter. I have replaced the original air filter against an K&N air filter. During the exchange, I have noticed that the original air filter, thinner than the K&N replacement filter is. 1. Is that ok? I'm quite sure that I have bought the right K&N filter. 2. Or is it better to reinstall the original air filter after I have cleaned the original filter with compressed air? Or is that not advisable? 3. Can anyone tell me please, where I can buy the original air filter? Thank you very much in advance for you replies.

1. I was thinking about getting the KN before I got a rotofab. Due to the fact that u can clean it and use it over and over is a plus. I don't see nothing wrong with going with a KN filter.
2. I'm not sure if the stock filter can be cleaned and reused but I could be wrong. I've learned so much jist by reading post from various members. I cnt give my input cuz I'm not sure. 3. Any auto part store should have filters for your car. Provide them with thr year, make, model and I'm sure it would show up in their system which one fits ur car Note* upgrading your stock filter to a CIA is another thing u can do. I did and very happy. Hope I've been helpful. Take care |

I would not advise cleaning a paper filter with compressed air. Surprisingly to some, particles you are trying to remove by reverse airflow become imbedded further in the material and you end up with a clogged filter still. Cheaper to just replace it with stock, of if you're not in a dust bowl area, replace with a K&N and learn how to clean/recharge it.
I mention the dust bowl thing because the off-roading community I am familiar with typically shuns K&N type filters in favor of paper for filtering efficiency for fine particles. Your opinion may vary. John B.

Thank you very much for your replies.
I think I'm going to leave everything as it is. Maybe it is not so bad that the K&N filter is a little bit thinner than the original filter. I'll see what happens.
