Oil Catch Can - Pictures Help

I'm undecided if I should install an Oil Catch Can. Today I removed the throttle body and noticed it was a little oily together with the inside of the intake manifold.

However, I am unsure if this is an essential mechanism that lubes the engine or just a flaw that needs to be addressed by installing an Oil Catch Can.

Attached are few pictures, any help will be appreciated.

2 Catch Cans.

Actually the oil going to the throttle body does'nt come from the regular Can dirty side, it comes from what they call the clean side. I have a V6 LLt and I installed 2 Cans. Yesterday I opened the dirty side and got around 1 inch of oil in the tank for some 1,200 miles. As for the one on the Clean side, there was just enough oil to cover the bottom of the Can. So the throttle body oil ingestion is not the same issue. Many are installing a BREATHER to replace the oil cap over the engine. Any other comments folks?

You should really put this in the bolt on section to get more responses. 1st question: do you already have a catch can installed or have you bought one? If no, then you should go buy Elite Engineering catch can. RX has cans too, but they are under a heavy load of back orders and some of the cans quality are going down hill. Install the can and make sure you install the lines correctly. The can will collect all the oil vapor in the can so you don't get it into your intake. You don't want this oil vapor in the intake as it can reduce your throttle response and make the car sluggish. After you install the can you can put some seafoam into the intake to clean it all out.

For the money I think it's good idea to add it, one of the first things I did. Been reading about this issue a long time and the fact that they are factory installed in the 1LE says somethimg.

You should also put the same amount of oil back into the sngine you catch in the can. No such thing as this engine using oil for lubricant, it's not an outboard

An oil separator does come with the 1LE but is not factory installed... just in a box, in the trunk. The instructions say it's for "off road" use only. I am running with mine installed, and a dirty-side catch-can.

No I don't have one and I've heard all the fuss about it. I decided to look for myself and found that. I think i'll end up getting it since I think the PCV system isn't very well designed.

(sorry for upside down pictures)
