Yeah...you got lucky. Word to the wise ...everyone on this board... car burglars are mainly going after two things....purses and laptops. The laptops are usually kept in bags. Anything that looks like it COULD hold a laptop is highly likely to get stolen. Just FYI. Take that bag in with you, lock it in your trunk, or don't put it in your car at all.

^Wow...you don't hear too many stories like that. Seeing as though it only takes 3 seconds to smash a window, reach in and grab the item, and take off, it's very easy to miss something. But, the getting in takes more time....but not by much.
Watch for the guys peering into the car windows. We get calls on them all the time. But, we rarely get calls on the guys actively breaking into cars. We are finally getting to the point where we have enough officers to start "DP" again. This means that we get to sit at hot spots and wait for these peckerheads to do their thing. We caught bunches of criminals years ago when we had enough guys to run DP...and knew what they were doing. Seeing as though I work the same major shopping area everyday, I know the hot spots and the stores that get hit regularly. We will catch some more guys pretty quickly here. Dang....love this job!

yea, i live in a pretty small town...about 25,000 people if that many. I know the officer that came out when i called the cops and he said we have at least 15 calls a week of people breaking into cars, alot of people just plain steal the car or truck if they can.
but lets put on my list the first thing im doing when i get my 5th gen is putting on a python alarm system like i have on my truck |

Anyone know how to 'hotwire' a '72 Charger?
I had the old (not running) car at my GrandMother's house, guess my nephews lost the keys... the front wheels were turned. I had to move it away from the house and had no keys. I did the screwdriver in the ignition...hammer on the screwdriver, vise grips etc. I ended up just towing it out to the pasture in 4x4 low range. I decided not to make a career of stealing '72 Chargers.
