If mylink is standard or a measly $1000 why not opt for the full size that would be more capable in all aspects and can seat more etc? Me personally don't need/want more than a regular cab, but that is not an option on the Colorado, but it is on the Silverado. Anyway, I think that there will be too much compare shopping between the two and may eat at eachothers sales and possibly still cause someone to go to Toyota or Nissan due to the amenities for the price they can get or don't want
There's a reason full size truck ATPs are shooting through the roof. Trucks are no longer just work vehicles.

Take rate on Silverado High Country and Sierra Denali is very good right now.

A 5.3 silverado crew cab 4X4 is rated at 16/22 and MT is only estimating 17/25 for the V-6 4wd canyon...I sure hope they are wrong. Or I hope the one I would want doesnt cross the 30K mark lol

All though the 2wd diesel estimate is a good looking number.

Maybe I'm younger than you or just simply view things differently. But this is the year 2014! Every vehicle needs to have this "technical garbage" as you call it as an option! Otherwise you're wasting time an money even bringing it to the market. I personally would not spend 5 grand on a vehicle that was perfect for my "needs" and didn't have this "technical garbage" on the side. My money is worth more to me than having some stripped down truck sitting in my driveway thats no better than buying a used 1995 s-10.

God help me if they make a Canyon Denali.

Well in my mind...I know what I need and what I don't need. The fact is, that many fullsize owners hardly use the truck and a midsize would probably work fine for them too, but everyone loves to say "Well for X thousand more, I'll just get a fullsize". If thats what they want to do, well then I guess thats fine. I'd love to drive around a nice fairly loaded full size, but I know I don't need a fullsize, and a midsize is really perfect for me. I really love my 06 crew 4x4 Colorado in this aspect. There are a few times I wish I had a little more bed room but otherwise its perfect. (and now they will offer a long bed for that, but I think it just looks awkward on the Colorado/Canyon)

So even if I'm "ONLY" saving 3 or 4 grand versus a comparable fullsize when discounts are factored in, that is still 3 or 4 grand in my pocket. Over time, I'll save even more on gas and other small things.

I hate to say it, but I agree...I don't see more than 25 - 26 Hwy for the V6 4x4. I don't see how they could do any better than that, when you consider that the midsize and fullsize cars with the same engine are only rated at high 20s or low 30s.

Diesel would be fantastic, but I don't think I'll want to swallow that upfront cost.

My guess is that we'll get some more specs early-mid summer, pricing late summer/early fall

They showed these things waaaaay too early. Chicago Auto Show would have been the earliest they should have done it, and later would have been better. But GM is strangely keen on putting things out there about a year before it goes on sale.

You won't see any of that stuff till a month before they start making them. Just like the Camaro. All we can get now is estimates. And those estimates are probably pretty accurate.

I agree and disagree lol. I am glad these have been debuted bc they are close to the top of my list, just sucks having to wait for what IMO is the most important info

I'm not saying they should have kept everything under wraps until pricing is announced (though I would like to see that happen sometime). I'm thinking if they had been unveiled in February or March, or even April it would make the wait seem that much shorter. But by doing it in November like they did, it feels like an eternity because there is absolutely nothing for 6 months+. Only reason I can think of for doing it this way is to have the trucks do a full tour of the US auto show circuit before it goes into production.

This is exactly why a 4 cylinder 4x4 extended cab ZL1 could be the truck for me.
