This was key for me. I did a great job of finding a way to get her interested. I knew it would pay dividends.

I'm in the same boat as Chris (op). Phoenix was hands down my favorite, with Texas being a close second.

Phoenix, was best, because of the road course and 1 hotel. I met a lot of people, it was my first one. The Texas Bar is the next best attraction, The Hotels being separated in Texas was a disadvantage. Trying to do both Drag racing and auto cross/road course has been a hard thing to do at every one so far.

I have only been to the two at Indy. They're pretty close for me, but Id say the second Indy by a hair. I didn't really participate much in the first Indy, I met a friend there that I hadn't seen since I joined the Army so I more or less just BSed with him more then meeting people. Texas Bar was absolutely awesome, talked to a few random people, had some awesome drinks and we even met a couple of girls we ended up BSing with the whole night.
Second one I did the Drag racing, met and talked to a lot of people on here and had a lot of fun. Parking lot wasn't the same with out the Texas Bar, but it was still a lot of fun. Even ran into some guys from my area that I didn't know were going. Won my drag racing class (really wish there was more participating though), so that was pretty cool, only time Iv ever won my class and only time Iv ever gotten money from winning a race too. Made 28 passes the first day and had a real nice hot-lap battle with JohnDeereRacer (i believe that's his username), very close races that were a lot of fun. All in all they both were very fun times. First 2 Fests I didn't have my car and this year my car wasn't done yet and even if it was I couldn't afford to go due to my addiction of throwing money at the car. I was really hoping to be able to make it to Houston but it just didn't work out. Next year I should be able to make it as long as its not too horribly far. |
