Road trip a success and slayed a dragon, too
Just got back home to Tampa, FL from a 2700 mile road trip. The car did great. For the long distances I was impressed with the comfort of the handling and the seat. Traveled from Tampa to New Orleans, then St Louis, then Nashville and then a small portion of US 129 in eastern Tennessee called the Tail of the Dragon. http://tailofthedragon.com/dragon.html It's 11 miles of road in the TN and NC mountains with 318 curves and dozens of hair pin turns.
During the planning of the trip I considered renting a car, but ultimately decided, no. This is why I bought a Camaro. No regrets! http://tailofthedragon.com/dragon.html |

13000 miles into my roadtrip so far. Couldn't ask for a better hiway cruiser. started in Tacoma last July. toured the whole NW hitting as many Car shows as possible including Hot August nights, Reno, Nev. Down the west coast to San Diego. Stored car for a month. Drove to Dallas for a family event. Stored car for 4 months , drove Dallas to Key West and back up to Atlanta. Storing car for 2 months, Pick it back up June 3 to do Hot Rod Power tour this year. NC to Wisc. then drive back to Tacoma via Colorado and Nevada. Should be about 20000 miles of just cruising in my Camaro and seeing the USA in my Chevrolet. The tail of the dragon was definitely a hi-lite of our travels.

Great story. Sounds like fun. However you haven't been on the edge until you've driven a 2012 6.2 4X4 crew cab Silverado through Ebbetts Pass/hwy 4 out of Arnold Cal. through the Sierra Nevada range. Had to use my wife as a spotter on several of the twists and turns as it was difficult to see over the hood on hard left handers. Gorgeous scenery though.

Legendary road US 129...stayed there for a few days back in '07 with a motorcycle club...hope you had a chance to enjoy it a little without getting a ticket or seeing anyone contribute to the "Tree of shame"...lol!

I visit the smokeys at least once a year, the tail of the dragon is the most popular, and it is a must if you visit this area. If you have time there are some awesome roads in the area that are not as predictable as the dragon. next week I'll be up in west Virginia area, touring by motorcycle. hwy 28 the hellbender now called the moonshiner because of the tv shows in the area, is one of my favorite roads in the immediate area.
