I knew when I started looking for my SS that it would be a manual. Especially after driving an auto with the paddle shift set up. Besides who wants to give up 26 hp right from the start.

Had to get mine sent in from out of state. There was a Dusk manual on the lot, but it had a sunroof and I couldn't fit in it

Unfortunately my next one will be automatic. My sciatica has been a chronic issue as of late and it's hell driving a standard with it. :(

Manual only = fun factor, 26 hp, npp, downshifts, perma grin. If the ss was not offered in manual i would not have considered it.

Manuals are dying out! Look at most, if not all, of the high-end exotic cars. They don't even come in manual anymore. Lambos, Ferraris, etc. are switching to the dual clutch, 8 speed, high-tech, shifts in a nanosecond automatics nowadays.

My Dad is 76 ( driving for 60 years) and has never been able to drive a manual to save his life. I think it was even a big deal to be able to get the automatic trans. He loved driving and bought a new car about every two years of his life. Driving pleasure is an individual thing based on a lot more than just car control.

Back on topic-dealers stock what dealers can sell and most buyers want auto. I enjoy driving stick but would go auto if driving in bumper to bumper traffic for two hours a day was my life, depends on where you live and travel.

I ordered my car...skipping a long story...GM did not accept the order from that dealer.....I found mine in Charlotte in mid September ..3 hours away, and they told me that they had special ordered it also specifically to get a white manual with black interior.
Interestingly enough, I bought my Summit White, black interior 2SS/RS off the lot last week. They didn't have a lot of manuals where I bought mine, but they did have a few. Oddly, most of the manuals they had were 6-cylinders, only a few SS's had it. Fortunately, they one they had was in a color I liked and had everything I wanted on it.

Guess I was lucky. Or maybe manuals sell better in Texas so they keep more here.

They only had 1 manual when I bought my car and it was a 1ls. I didn't want the basic model and I certainly didn't want it in silver. I had to order my blue ray 1lt/rs
Dealer tried to sell me one of their autos saying that paddle shifting was the same thing. Test drove it, hated it, told them I wasn't interested.

I have a manual, but it's not my daily driver.....if it was, I don't think I'd be able to handle it in traffic every day..........

Not many manuals on the lot when I bought mine, but the dealer had one in red! I tried the auto with the paddle shifter too..........I couldn't figure out how to make it work

Course I learned to drive in a 1965 4-speed Corvair
