Call me crazy but that much hp for the price seems a little low. Its must be lacking somewhere. Suspension maybe? not hating.... Regardless, great car though!

Bet the Track Pack is an option, 4-$5K.

I would like to see the times of a ZL1 & GT500 at that track. Believe they were in Kent, Washington, <500 ft elevation and relatively cool.

Time differential on their "Marketing Charts" would likely be much less, not that I wouldn't promote a time based on an advantageous location also.

The GT and SS are the "blue collar" cars...always have been...these top end models costing significantly more is nothing new.

I'm incredibly fortunate to be able to own one (even it's cheap at 56 compared to some optioned out models) because I finished school with super low debt, landed a great job, and live somewhere I can own a nice home for 360 dollars a month. Joe Dad with 2 kids, a house, and 40k a year isn't swinging a 60k dollar toy.
i never said it was financially responsible
Never said avg joe had a family either!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We had no idea over here.

Anyone heard what the top speed is? Isn't that what fastest means?

But I see this shit all the time.

Same thing with houses. People dont understand you can "loan" upwards of 40% of your gross salary.

Make 40k a year? You can make Thats $1330/mo in total loan payments.
Granted 2 kids and a hefty mortgage - this car is probably out of reach unless there is a significant downpayment.

But yes you can get loan through (my bank atleast) 90 months at 5%

Is it finacially responsible - hell no. Can you do it? if the numbers work.

A 20 year old CNC operator at my work drives a '13 392. he lives at home. He already said hes buying a hellcat next year if he can afford it.

Priorities!

I see an awful lot of Raptors on a daily basis. ALmost as many as regular F150s. Same situation IMO

I'm not interested in what some outlier ran once in some ridiculous negative DA. A true stock time for a ZL1 is ~12.0. For 600 horsepower stock - and we all know GM underrates their motors - that's pretty sad. A 4th gen would be in the 10's.

Stock SS's have 80 horsepower more than 4th gens and they're cutting the same times in the quarter mile. Yes, these aren't straight line cars, but with the power they have to be averaging mid 13's is embarrassing. More engineering should've been done to keep weight down. There is so much unnecessary weight in the wheels, seats, etc. These cars could be 150 lbs lighter with no compromise.
And a 4th generation wouldn't pass today's safety tests and have all the bells and whistles that make the ZL1 a complete car.

I reserve judgement on the Hellcat. I think the GT500 is an awesome machine. Either way, my ZL1 ran one of the 50 fastest times on the Nurburgring in history. Let's see either the Hellcat or Shelby do that. When they do (and I mean officially verified by the track, not some amateur SVT tape) I'll be impressed.

This is why the Europeans think we are crazy when it comes to cars. Straight line performance is only one variable. A true ultimate performance car, is judged by all variables, not just drag racing. Nothing tests all the variables better than a racetrack, especially the "Green Hell" in Germany. So far, nothing in the ZL1's class has bettered it.

For a basic stock car the Shelby is actually cheaper. The problem is that GM gave us a lot more standard than Ford did. This is due to the fact that the ZL1 is done 100% in-house at Chevy, while the GT500 involves and outside contractor (Shelby) doing a lot of the work.
