The 2016 Mustang GT350 could have Carbon Fiber Wheels Carbon Brakes Composite Springs
This was noticed by a member over at svt performance.
http://www.engineeringtv.com/video/C...Magnesium-Whee https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=fqFgj6zfHso The "car" that is discussed that hasn't been officially announced yet is none other than the new SVT. Take the parts listing as "CF wheels" in the new catalog and these two videos for confirmation. In the video directly discusses the applications it would be first introduced on. So the testing was completed sometime after January 30th and these wheels given the green light. Worth up to 1.4 seconds per lap and better steering feel! Dave Pericak already touched on the improved precision of the new dual ball-joint front suspension on S550, and this is over S197 which was already lauded for its world-class steering precision. With a rumored 600+ horse 5.2 flat-plane with larger bore spacing than the 100mm Mod motors have been saddled with this will be one world-class ride. |

Impressive, but dang those would be expensive wheels to replace.
How do you know for certainty that it is an SVT car they are talking about?

That much development is going to put it well over $100K.

Yes if the GT350 does use these wheels it is going to be one expensive vehicle. This could be Fords version of the Z/28 in the fact that its sole focus is the track.

Ford is really good about offering great performance for a few grand less then Chevy so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it will cost less then the z/28. I'm also gonna say it will out run the z/28 but it should since its a new model on a new chassis and a new engine so if it doesn't beat it it will be a fail for Ford.

600+ hp from the 5.2 is a pipe dream unless they rev the crap out of it.
The carbon wheels and composite springs are interesting though. |

Given a Coyote family engine, 5.2L of displacement..my guess is somewhere in the 525-540 range with tq in the 430-440 range. |

I heard it was a 7,500 rpm redline due to vibrations from being a larger displacement flat plane crank engine. Supposedly, the vibrations backed out a starter bolt on one of the test cars and destroyed the engine.

I don't like to quote high when it comes to a stock Coyote. 500 hp would be the most if I was betting money. Don't get me wrong, Coyotes are a force to be reckoned with once unleashed. Who can deny Coyote Stock?
