I didn't really have time to react, the second I saw him he decided to commit suicide by leaping into the roadway from the right instead of the easier path into the woods. :p

Insurance said this is no fault comprehensive with a $100 deductible [1SSFever gets the prize]. Thus far, this is the 'best case' for what happened. No one got hurt, we know the deer got picked up to be eaten by someone who lived nearby, lowest deductible on our policy, no points, no fault assigned (presumably no rate increase), and I have a nice rental for the 2-4 weeks I'll be without it.

The dealer I purchased the vehicle from, which runs a good body shop, ended up being my choice for a few reasons. Mostly convenience. They tend to get real busy though and I'm hoping it doesn't sit there indefinitely.

Yeah, exactly. The guy at the rental agency joked I could put the top down and the heat up full blast.

Unfortunately Rudolph but himself in front of this bullet. Would have preferred to use my 7mm Rem or 20 gauge.

It doesn't look all that bad though. Should be a easy fix hopefully maybe it's deer friends will think twice about jumping in front of a tank but I highly doubt it.

As I learned, my Camaro was fixed. Yes, I was in my ZL1 coming home from Richmond, VA and hit the brakes for one deer going across the road.
I didn't see the second deer.
My local dealership did fixed my Camaro and took care of my car. I think this time of year they are out, have to watch out for them.
I would rather hit a deer with my truck and not my Camaro.
I did about $4200.00 was waiting on some parts, like inner cooler and name badges.

It can be fixed.
I learned.

I am amazed how many people think they can swerve to avoid hitting a animal, like you have a clue if its going to go left or right or stop in its tracks. Just hit the brakes hard (unless you have a car tailgating you then just normal braking) as you can so that you can keep your car in control and in your lane if he moves great if he doesn't oh well slow as much as you can to limit the damage.
OP your car is fine, too new for a total and not enough damage anyway.

BTW

I did the swerve in my 99TA a few years ago on the way to work or bambi was in my lap.

Split second to react but no drama no damage, good thing the road was dry.

I would imagine the 5th would be better at an emergency lane change.

The headlights attract them, thats why poachers use the high beam spotlights.
