I would try for a 2013 if possible due to the redesigned mechanism, water bag and fabric. You are close to the states and could find a 2013 2SS for 30k. I'm not sure what fees and registration issues you would have bringing it back to Canuckistan.

Not a bad price. I'm near Toronto and got my 2011 with 18,000km in September for $34800. I found an actual Canadian review of the 2011 convertible 2SS (not sure if it was the RS package or not) and it retailed for over $50K before taxes!

I'm happy as hell with the car except for the convertible top rub marks. Check that out closely (perhaps it's been fixed already). There is no way I could afford a newer one and I'm lucky because I found out my car didn't get on the road until May 2012 which means I still have warranty so they're going to replace my top.

Glad to hear that, but try to get them to extend the warranty on all the parts of the new top for a few years since it is an issue that could keep happening.

I don't think GM is offering the extension of the warranty on Canadian cars for some reason. Maybe it violates some Canadian law (just guessing here). I did get one on my top after my first 5th bow broke. Mine is good till next April or 80,000 miles. I will reach the time long before the miles. I did have the recommended top fixes done which seem to have fixed the rub marks by the doors. I have had two 5th bows replaced but other than that I am still on my original canvas, mechanism and water bag and mine was one of the first convertibles made Jan 2011 build date.

OP, I wouldn't worry too much about buying an 11 if the top is in good shape. Some people did go through nightmares, but most of the tops worked fine. I had an early 12 convertible built well before the big change to the water management bag, and it worked fine. The drain hose was loose when I bought it, but once that was fixed I never had an issue with leaking or fabric wear. I did use the tonneau cover religiously which I believe will prevent the fabric wear issues.

Just make sure to check it out thoroughly before you buy it. Put the top up and down and make sure it is smooth with no rubbing anywhere. Make sure the seal below the rear window is tight against the body when the top is up (5th bow issue). If possible take it to a coin op or touchless car wash and check for leaks, make sure to check the carpet in the rear footwells for water or signs of water in the past. I can't speak to what a good price is in Canada though. Good luck.

Well right now the temp outside is -13 so I am not sure about putting the top up and down . I took pictures of the back of the roof where it meets the body and it has a nice tight fit. I just have a concern about the area beside the small side windows but not really sure . I will try to post pictures of the roof . The car is dirty because it is on the dealer lot.

Wow -13

Yeah, you don't want to put the top up and down in those conditions let alone water testing. Does the dealer have a service garage where you could try the top?
