Lighting questions

So I have a 2014 non rs v6. Have a couple questions I'm adding halos on top of the regular halogen lights. Oracle vs flastech. Plasma or leds?
And can I add a HID bulb with the halos and can I wire them to come on seperalty I was going to get red halos and those r illegal in Ny so I want to be able to turn them off if need be
Also. Fog lights. Will this be useable ? I also wanted to make the fog lights red so should I get a red bulb or just put red vinly over the fog lights

Oracle:

Flashtech:

If it were up to me I would get plasma due to them not having the individual led look. You can get HIDs but you will also blind other drivers. If you go that route think about getting projectors. In terms of wiring there are endless possibilities. If you get a single color halo then you can just take 12v from battery to a switch inside the car back out to the halos and ground them. That way you can turn them off when you want. Or if you go rgb then there are multiple controllers. I use night owl.

Thanks for the help ! I was thinning plasma also but is oracle better than flash tech? I've heard a few negative things about them and how about the fog lights can I wire those seperatley also? And I haven't been able to find any projector lights for the 2014 yet

I can't comment on which one is better as I have never compared them. And yes you can wire them separate. Like I said there are controllers out there if you want to get into having some lights on and some off. Oracle makes halos for the '14 fogs.

I'm in the middle of installing night owl lights on my 2010 2ss/rs. I would suggest installing the rs headlights and doing night owl what you can do with this system is amazing even with the limited short time I've played with it testing to make sure they functional and working. I can't tell you how many emails I send him asking questions and he is always quick to respond with answers and help. Can't speak for the other systems though.

I was going to go that route but my car is leased so I didn't want to spent 2000 on headlights but now that I think about it I don't think the dealer would like red halos either

You could always keep your non rs headlights swap them back in when its ready to trade in. Then sell the rs headlights with night owl kit get a good chunk of your $ back. Swapping out the headlights themselves isn't very hard to do. Not sure about wiring aspect of it as I don't know if rs headlight is plug and play for non rs owners.

Yes your right it is a lot of $ to spend on a car your not intending on keeping. I was assuming the car was yours to keep. I was suggesting night owl for 2 reasons they rgb so if later wanted a different color combo not a big deal. 2 don't have to bake the headlights to install. But downside (in your case) is only for rs headlights so you'd have that extra expense.

If you aim them right you won't blind anyone.

There is nothing to aim unless you have projectors. If you put hids in the reflective halogen housing then no one on the road will like you.

And OP I bought rs headlights also and installed oracle halos and used night owl controls. Functions just like stock until I change colors with my iPhone.

If he has a '14 then he will have to bake them open to replace the stock led boards if he goes the oracle route (only company I know with rgb halos for '14-15). But I agree with you 100%

Night owl has rgb halos for at least 10-13 rs cars. Not sure about 14-15 cars but I am assuming they same design internally just change outside dimensions for new bumper so the night owls will work on them too.

Night owl doesn't make them for 14-15. It's a completely different headlight and a completely different halo also so they won't fit the 2014. Only Oracle has them for 14-15.

2010-2013

2014-2015

From gen5diy sight.
I still use night owl controls. Just was forced to use oracle leds due to no one else offering them

I knew the lights were different but figured they just changed the outside dimensions. Didn't know they changed the internal parts that much that the night owls wouldn't work. But yeah I noticed on the thread he claims 10-13 rs cars only except zl1 which can be as new as 2015
