Carbon Fiber Vinyl A- Columns

Hey all,

Got this idea from another member.
My drivers side A-Column had a nice scratch on it, and it would bother me every time i looked at it. So I wrapped both A-Columns with TC 3D Carbon Fiber self-adhesive wrap. The only tools i used were a scissor, razor blade, and hair dryer. I think they came out great! Gotta wait and see if they vinyl starts bubbling up at all in the summer on a hot day - but so far so good.

The carbon fiber is pretty easy to work with and very affordable. I purchased it here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The wrap is a flat black. I didn't want a glossy look. Huge roll, so now i'm thinking what else I can wrap!

Looks great! Did you pull the pieces off to wrap or just do it all in place?

Pulled them off. I was worried about taking them off but they come off real easy. Just get your finger under the outside edge (under the rubber) and pry and they pop out. Then there's a rubber-band looking connector on it. You just slide the connector up and it detaches. Much easier to pull them off then i expected.

They have a curve to them on one side so it takes a little work to heat the vinyl and stretch it across the curve, but overall it wasn't a big deal. Took about 30 minutes each side. Never worked with this stuff before. It was a great and easy DIY project.

I saw a post on youtube i think, where a guy carbon fiber vinyl wrapped some interior parts of his car.

Thinking about doing the center console bezel next - but i'm having a hard time getting the cigarette lighter outlet disconnected from the bezel. I'll try again tomorrow to see if i can get it off.
