Window Tint Percentage Help

The only place that I can find that is decently reviewed in my area only carries the Madico brand. They only have 5%,17%,35%,55% in this. I was quoted 220 for Madico Charcool CH20 for 5 windows. Idealy I would want an accurate, actual 20% or 25%.

From their website it seems that this is a 17% film. From the factory do the Camaro windows only allow in 70% to 85% light? Are tint shops able to correctly determine the visible light that passes through the windows?

For now I"ll guess 80% - That would place me at 13.5%? That seems pretty low if driving at night.

If I did the CH35 (35%), then it would be around 28%?

What would you do in this situation?

Thanks!

Man, that quote sounds about right for a shop with a life time warrany. But to much for me for film on windows. I paid $80 for mine from an installer on the side but no warranty except him saying he will replace it if it messes up and I believe him as he is a friend. But I went with 35% on both of the side windows (large door window and small triangle window) and 5% on the rear glass.
Here in Texas, only the back and rear side windows can be less than 35% Front two windows have to 35% or lighter. But I didnt want my small triangle windows and my two door windows being different so I only did the rear in 5%.

Yeah cops won't be an issue for me. I'm mainly worried about visibility at night with around 15%. Then I feel like 35% might not be dark enough. Not sure what to do.

My windows metered at 12% all the way around. (bought it that way)

I've never had any issue with it being too dark to see through, but that's subjective.

Even at night on back roads?

Yea, never had an issue.

See if anyone in your area has tinted windows on the Camaro and go for a ride with them. Good way to judge for yourself.

I have no issue with mine, yet my ex wasn't a fan. She liked 35%.

20% is pretty much perfect, in my opinion. With the factory tint it puts it roughly around 15%. It's dark at night, but I drive with my windows cracked anyway.

If I were in your position, I'd do the 17%. If only because it's the closest to 20.

This is 20% all around except the windshield

I had 20% all around as well. The back window is just about right as far as visibility at night. I did go back and redo the doors and quarters to 5% b/c during the day you could still see right through it.

I have 17%. You will be happy with that. Keeps the car cool and you can barely see inside.

Payed $180 for 3M film - 20% all around including a strip across the top of the front windshield. It was during the winter when the tint shops have sales.

I have had lots of windows tinted here in AZ and I must say 3M is the best film I have ever had.

Thanks everyone. Price turned out to be $199 OTD with a lifetime warranty. I went with the CH20 all around (actual 17% film) and it looks great! Haven't driven at night yet, but so far I would agree, it was the best choice.
