Range Advice

I bought the Range Unit AFM eliminater for my L99 Camaro. On the package, it says not to leave plugged in on any vehicle that is not driven daily. Anybody do this, or have an opinion? Mine sits for a few days at a time as it's not my DD.

I have only let mine sit for about 3 days at a time with and no problems there. I've been afraid to go longer. Mind you its easy to remove and insert as needed.

The problem with leaving it in is it will drain the cars battery. I have had mine go dead a couple times leaving it in the car for 2-4 weeks without driving.

If you don't drive it at least once a week unplug it. This is the third time I have had to open the door with the key, plug in a battery charger under the hood just to get the trunk open so I could put a trickle charger on the battery. Other than that if you remember to unplug it if you're not going to drive it for a while it works great except for the occasional startup glitch.

So other then the battery drain, it doesn't affect anything? Good, then I won't worry if I forget to unplug it. It generally never sits for more than two days.
Thanks a lot guys, I appreciate the input.

2-4 days should be okay if your battery is good. I will unplug mine if it will be more that 4 days.

Has anyone ever get some weird things happening when using the Range AFM?

I used it for about two months. I didn't feel any difference much I don't know why. But the last time I had it plugged in was when I was filling up gas. I turned the car off, filled gas to the top, turned the car on and then:
-Park break indicator on
-ABS not functional/disabled/needs servicing (can't remember the error)
-power steering failure
-stabilitrack needs servicing
-traction control off

The car was scary to drive knowing ask my safety systems were turned off and the very very heavy steering wheel. I crawled home turned off the car and then back on and everything was fine.

I don't know what happened, but I assumed it was the range afm fking with the computer. I haven't used mine since.

I had my car throw codes once with it. Shut the car off pulled the range. Waited a few minutes like they recommend. Fired it up and all was good. If you do this if it ever happens again you should be fine.

In my case it kept shutting the car off so I couldn't drive it if I wanted to. Apparently the power steering error has to do with the PS using the same bus as the range is blocking the signal on or something and a "conflict" can occur. But it was only once and freaked me out lol. Been a gem ever since...

I never had any issues using mine. With it out you could instantly hear when it cut cylinders off with my cat back. Sounded horrible. Couldn't drive without it plugged in. It didn't make the car feel any different just kept it running on 8 cylinders all the time.
