I had the Atak catback system on my car before I had the LT headers installed and loved it but after they were installed it was just to loud so i went back to the GM performance mufflers with the borla piping and it sounds great.

Agreed! I have LT headers with the GM Performance Track Pack Exhaust (same as Borla S-type) and love the sound.

S-type with headers, Atak without. I had the Atak with header on my Camaro and it lasted a week, haha

Ok... I finally had a chance to work on some audio clips. I'll post up a drive-by and in car audio once I can get an assistant to operate the camera/microphone...
The below is a 4 minute mp3 of the Borla Atak Catback start and warm-up (LS3) https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-B...ew?usp=sharing |

Any chance someone has S Type Axleback sound clips?
My car is going to be stock besides the Axleback and maybe a CAI, and I'm currently deciding between the ATAK and S Type. |

My apologies if I am taking this thread in another direction. There has been some good input here and I just didn't want to start another thread.
I am going to be doing some exhaust mods in the near future in the same ballpark as everyone else here. I am going to start with the S Type and add some LT Headers by the end of the year. That being said, what is the benefit of purchasing the cat back S Type versus buying just the axle back? Remember I will be adding LT's in the future. I will not be doing a Cat delete, or at least I am not intending to at this point. |

The c/b will have smoother bends and transitions to the bends, along with no flat spots in the tubing like the stocker does. The 304SS Borla uses is also of a much higher quality than the OEM 409SS system. I really like the SLP system with the mid-mounted resonators as well as the Borla S-type system. Pypes also makes a great sounding mid-mounted system as well. I have the Flowmaster Outlaw a/b and it has pretty good tone, but it's wake the dead loud, even with stock manifolds. It also drones ridiculously so @ 1950-2100rpm. Can hardly hear myself think.
