WHAT OIL FILTER WRENCH FOR 6.2L?

Can someone please tell me what oil filer wrench they are using to remove the stock oil filter? Last two times I replaced the oil filter, my cup style that goes on the end just strips the filter. The band style I have, because the way it sits in that hole I can only get it to grab only 1/2" not enough to grab it and spin. I ended up getting it out with my plier style oil filter wrench tearing it up and getting oil all over the place.

Thank you for all your advice.

Dimitri

I use one that goes on a ratchet. It's a little hard to get the slack taken out where it will hold until you can begin to remove it, but then it works great.

I agree with a strap wrench. Mine is different but same idea. KTI 73731 K Tool International Oil Filter Strap Wrench. Get it on Amazon or Summit Racing. It fits a ratchet wrench and has a nylon strap like a seat belt. Never need to buy another oil filter wrench.

I just use my hands and grab that tiny filter and put 1 foot in the air. Watch for the dribble!

Had to use the strap and screw driver through the filter the first time i changed the oil myself. Unbelievable the dealer had it on so tight. First 2 years my oil changes were free. Of course i made an oily mess. But i'm good for the next one. No one to blame but my self if its too tight. That oil filter wrench looks great.

This is the best type of oil filter removal tool. It has yet to fail me when replacing the oil filter on any of my vehicles.

My hand or if a little tight I just drive a screwdriver right through and turn it, use the screwdriver to punch a hole and let it drain out first anyway.
