Orchid 69 Camaro Z28
Not sure how many people out there know about this car or not. It's hitting the block at Mecum in Harrisburg in a few weekends. Here's a cool little back story about this rare 1969 Camaro Z28 with the special order Evening Orchid paint...
This car was originally ordered new from our dealership by a very good customer by the name of Clem, who is still a customer of ours today. We actually just had a lengthy conversation with him this past Saturday on the early history of this unique Camaro. It's exciting to see what kind of bids this car brings all these years later at the Mecum Harrisburg auction July 30-Aug1. It's cool to see all the attention this car is gaining, that originated from our little dealership in Western PA way back when. https://www.mecum.com/lot-detail/PA0...et-Camaro-Z28/ |

What a find. That would not be my choice of paint color. But nice and original, it's a thing of beauty. Should bring a good buck to the owner. Wish that I was in a position to buy it.

Interesting car but rare does not always mean appealing. You can't change the color without killing the value. Rather have a LeMans Blue one with a glovebox full of money to make up the difference (one or at least a Rally Green one that I could paint Blue) ;~D

Never have seen that color and no stripes, very unusual! I tried finding that color and came up blank. I don't care for the color, but if it came that way, you talk about rare!!!! This car is odd to me, the air cleaner is not the open element and different from the cowl induction type. I see that it doesn't have the recall done with the tie downs on the motor mounts.

Evening Orchid (Irish Mist/Pontiac) was a RPO paint color option available in 1965.
A special order paint job on that baby. Special paint orders had to go through the COPO/F&SO process (Central Office Production Order/Fleet and Special Order) to determine if it could be done, set pricing, and see that the paint was available at the proper time when the car was being built. It does have cowl induction BTW. That was how they did the cowl induction when ordered in '67 and '68, and if you didn't order the ZL2 Cowl Induction Hood (became available in Dec. '68) on your '69. Did you know of the 243,085 '69 Camaros built only 10,026 SS and Z28's ordered the ZL2 Cowl Induction Hood? There are over 50,000 or 60,000 first gens that still have them LOL.
