use to open just fine, orig key still go's in turns lock but will not push in and open thoughts on how I can open it? without tearing anything up?

I am going to suggest you tear apart the cardboard side as a last resort. They can be replaced pretty easily and cheaply. Let a locksmith look at it maybe?
