They want the Camaro key back because it's not safe. But send a car out as a loaner with an "unsafe" key? WTF?
Yea, I had the same thing, 2015 Malibu rental WITH a switchblade, mind boggling...

I had 5 for my 2013 2LS pre recall and they could only get 4 keys and 4 fobs to pair with the car with the recall supplied keys.

The dealer was kind enough to give me the other 2 keys and fobs ordered for the recall as spares to pair later if needed.

At least three. Oh... and always check the couch cushions for anything that is missing.

Worse than that: when I bought my Camaro, the key recall already had been done, but I wanted an additional spare key. So I went to the Chevy parts department to order a fob and separate key, was told the separate key was not available, however, the could order switchblade fobs for me (surprisingly inexpensive too). So, why can they sell this when they are recalling them, ridiculous. Every time I give the key to the service department they tell me I need the recall, and I say look it up, the the recall has been done.

Why did they try to pair more than just the 2 replacement keys? 3 of your pre-recall switchblade keys should have con't to work without having to be re-paired.

Are you saying you now have 4 switchblade keys that work and 2 recall key&fobs that don't work
or do you have 6 keys in total that work ( 2 recalls and 4 switchblades)?

Shoot, the Malibu key was closer to my knee than in my Camaro.

My wife has an 11 Equinox with switchblade key - no recall on it. For my 13 I told my service writer my knee is nowhere near the key fob so I don't want the key recall done, he said many other people have told him the same thing!

When I got my Camaro last September the dealer gave me one switchblade key and one "child safe" key. I'm just now realizing that the child safe key doesn't fit, because the laminated tag on it says "06 Impala". I never even picked up that key since I stuck it on top of the fridge a year ago that's how much I like the switchblade better!

I'm so glad I read this and then tried it out of curiosity, it would suck to find this out the day I loose the switchblade key.
