2016 Top Operation vs 2010-2015
Hi all. I ran a search but did not find this posted anywhere. I saw a video of the new top on the 2016 and was wondering if this video was accelerated in any way or if this is the actual speed of the top going up and down? If so, this is a great improvement! My top goes up and down ok on my 2012, but not this fast. Plus it boasts the ability to work up to 30mph versus the previous 20~mph restriction.
here is the link. the rear canopy cover is trick too. no more tonneau cover to contend with. |

I'll get one in 2021, when I can afford it. :(

Top accuation time = 0
Put it down, install tonneau, leave it down.

you can probably afford it next year in 2017. resale values are not too strong on our cars. I wish I would have waited just one year or two for mine as 2ss are showing up in my area for under 20k with low miles.
![]() My post was just about the curiosity of the new top. no complaints with mine. Wondering if anyone with a new one could confirm that it really is as fast as the video shows. that's all. |

Dunno. Not considering a gen 6, would never buy a new car again anyway. Ask me in 10 years.
As it stands now - my next car, if I ever sell the Camaro, will be a '69 to '71 Ponitac or Chevy B-body. Had several of them in the '80s and know what makes them tick (pun intended, hydraulic lifters!). Can rebuild a Rochester Quadrajet with my eyes closed (almost), and no, I mean no, electronics. Electrics yes, electronics no. And easy to fix like a bicycle, for the most part. Will be going slower then, as I'll be aproaching 70. So speed's not a thing.

I think it is sped up a bit. Watch how quickly the windows go down... unless they increased that too.
I also noticed there's no one in the car. Do you know if the top can be operated with the remote?

This vid is normal speed. I saw a demo video and the top up/down was exactly the same speed. It's faster and one reason the top can be put up or down up to speeds of 35mph.
