OUCH!

Maybe we need a new topic. Does the LT1 actually get better gas mileage than the LGX?

By the late 1980s the Camaro, Firebird, and Corvette were all getting above 20 mpg.
Living in tree hugger capital I get alot of flack for my choice in cars/trucks.

I have a very wiggly 140 mile daily commute going from sea level to 1650ft. Speeds vary but in my V8s I can stay in overdrive going uphill at 65-70mph. I get 25ish mpg in my Challenger SRT8, Gen 5 Camaro SS and SS Sedan. I get 28ish mpg in my 2013 Mustang GT and can get 30mpg if I keep my foot out of it.

My wife bought a new 1979 Camaro 350 4bl & my 81 Z/28 both got 25mpg hwy. My son's 2000 Camaro SS 6 speed manual get 30mpg hwy. My high school car (1957 Chevy Belair 2dr HT with 4.88 gears) only got 3-4mpg with a 15gal fuel tank so fillups every 40 miles or I was walking.

I find steady state numbers of high 20s reasonable. I guess there are guys with A8 LT1 that should be able to crack 30 MPG on a 65 MPH road trip.

My 440 Dart with 4.10 in the Dana would get about 12 to 15 MPG really not to bad, the car was really light. I wanted 3.54 for the big block but nobody had them and back then I was too cheap / poor to order a new gear set.

My supercharged V6 Challenger gets about 21 MPG same conditions,
My Bro's R/T gets about 19 same drive, auto
His Wife's SRT8 is in the mid to high teens, auto
My built Type R 2.1 liter about 28 MPG, stock about 30.

Mr. Monte, you certainly own some choice automobiles in your stable...I'm envious...lol.

On another note, I wouldn't understand anyone who had the availability of 455 HP and the same torque who could also get 25 plus mpg to save some of the extra money you spent buying and insuring a V8. You don't even have to try hard to get above 24 or so. I'm averaging 21-22 just around town.

I love the idea that I can take my car to the drag strip and make 5 runs and the average mpg doesn't drop lower than 20 mpg from the trip to the track. Then, on the way home, pump it back up to 28 or so...that is, if you don't have to dispatch a Mustang or two on the way home...lol.

I had a 2014 1LT and averaged 17-18 miles a gallon on 91 in the 20 months that I had it. My 6th gen A8 2ss is averaging 21 and I drive much more spirited on it. Go figure.

Highway mileage is insane on this car. This is a 110 mile drive at 70-85 the whole way:

(before anyone gets mad at me for screwing around with a phone on the freeway, my wife took the picture)

So if the V8 is getting 25-26 avg MPG. Then the V6 must be getting 27-28 low 30's

I love that mode of MPG status...had it on my Cruze diesel. How do you get it into that mode?

You need to get yourself a driver mod to your right foot

My LFX gets 19.5. Not sure if that says more about the quality of the engine or me as a driver

First post here and I fully expect some scepticism. ...but I have a 84 mile round trip commute to work everyday....my 16 1ss auto has no problem maintaining 29-30 mpg with CC set at 67mph.

Amazing car Chevy built. 0 to 60 in 3.9secs , 1/4 mile in high 11's plus relatively great mpg. I'm on a 48 hour test drive. Car is equipped with auto trans/magnetic ride/dual mode exhaust for 38k.

Good deal? Should I go for it?
