LSX 376 Valve Covers - Need Advice on Painting
So I finally came across some LSX 376 valve covers. Man these are hard to get a hold of.
Anyway, I am wanting to paint them gloss black with the LS AND 376 being flat black with a red pin stripe in the edge of the lowered section, and want to paint the X red as well. What would be the best way to go about this? I'm pretty confident in my abilities to paint, but this is a little tricky in my opinion. They do look a little red in the pic, but they are the orange ones.

I like them a lot! Where are you going to put the coil packs?

I bought a relocate kit similar to this and I will be mounting them to the frame on either side of the engine.
Any tips on how to paint these like I want?

I like the relo kit, looks clean.
As for the painting, I always take my stuff to the body shop at the dealership. I know the manager and he makes sure it is done right and very good prices. |

Well, I took the valve covers to a local motorcycle custom paint shop. The best one in Memphis actually. They told me the only thing I should consider would be to get the valve covers powder coated. They said due to the heat, paint would just bubble.
I was a little bit puzzled, because I've seen brakes, valve covers, intake manifolds, hell even blocks, get painted with regular engine paint out of a spray can, and last for years....so I didn't get it. But whatever, if they don't want to paint these, that's on them. I may get some high temp paint and do it myself. I just need some help determining how I should layer the paint. What should I tape off first and what last? I understand this is probably going to be a week long project just between letting paint dry and taping things off, but I want to do it right so I need some input.

Hey, I know this is old.. but just curious if you ever painted these? I just picked a set up myself and am struggling to figure out a good way to paint/ mask them. I think I'm going to go with VHT engine enamel. |

Sorry bud, never did. I couldn't come up with a good way.
If I had it to try now, I would spray the whole cover black, or whatever color I wanted the letters to be, let that dry for a few days, then I would probably mash something like playdough or some clay or something similar into the LSX376 lettering, spray the top color, then pick the clay out after. Or airbrush the letters.

I know Lupe painted a set of valve covers for a guy in our club. Looked awesome. Hit him up on any 'recommendations'.
