Depending on the wheel, yes. Make sure the wheels are the proper width for the tires.

Should have been clearer.... I want to run same size on stock rims. I know the rear stock is a little wider so can I run either the front size on all 4 or the rear size on all 4?

You could physically mount the front size on the rear, but you shouldn't. Try to buy a second set of front rims to put on the rear and then go to a square set up.

Go search the member classifieds. Always somebody selling stock rims on the cheap. Go find either a pair 8"or 9" rims....then you can safely/properly mount same size all around.

The proper way to get same size wheels front and back and same size tires, but I don't see any problem with running all 4 same size tires it will just be staggered and fit different.

245/45-20 on 20x9" is a max-wheel-width setup and just as legitimate as what Chevy did on the 5th gen 1LE (285/35-20 on 11") - and for that matter what Ford did with the 2008 GT500 before that (255/45-18 on 9.5", which I've done myself). IOW, there's plenty of precedent even at the OE level. Appearancewise, it's not 'conventional' so many people don't care for what it looks like, and you don't get as much scuff protection for the wheel. Going the other way - 275/40's on 20x8 - is not recommended. 20x9 for that tire size is min-recommended as it is. Norm

No
The car is setup to handle safely for the average driver. That means it understeers (plows) so a driver will slow down if he exceeds the cornering capability of the car. If you run a square setup, the handling will shift toward neutral or even oversteer. These two handling characteristics are much more prone for an average driver to lose control than understeer. That why virtually all common passenger cars are setup to understeer.

I have 275/40X20 all around with 9" and 10" wheels and it still understeers. Not as bad as it did with the 245s, but the front end still slides first.

I think max on the 8" fronts is 255mm.
You need 2 more rear rims to go square. Why not just go 255 on the fronts and max the rear at 285? You get a bit more tire at both ends and your within spec for rim with and tire width.

The SS comes with 275 on the rear and many put them on the front, so yes.
The question should be about wheels. Get the appropriate offset for front and rear as they are different. |
