Gen 5 not a classic?

Have any of you gen 5 or newer owners been confronted by the "classic muscle car" snobs yet?
We were at a show a couple weeks ago and a lady was walking around handing out invitations to another car show scheduled a couple weeks out at another venue.
She specifically walked past our car and when I asked about the show she said its for classic muscle cars only.
I guess our 2010 isn't considered a "classic".
While I can understand if it was designated for old school, or "vintage" cars, I think the gen 5 is as much a classic as any muscle car made.
Things don't have to be old to be classic. At least that's the way I feel about it.
I suppose it doesn't matter, but sort of felt dissed.

Sorry to say but things do have to be old to be classic. At least 25 years old for cars. While others may disagree with me, I don't see mine as a classic and wont for a very long time.

personally.... i can't stand going to a car show and seeing a newer car any joe schmuck could buy at the dealership.

They made over 1 million Gen 5's... you see them almost every day... it's nothing that should be in a car show unless you did some amazing mods.

That said... I think the Gen 5 will be one of the best modern cars and very popular for a long time. Kinda like the E39 BMW's... will be a modern favorite for many.

After I got my SS in '09 had a guy at the gas station tell me, "Yeah, but it's not an old school muscle car though." To which I replied, "Yeah, it's what an old school muscle car wanted to be." He then hopped into his Subaru Forester and drove off.

True and technically all old cars are not a Classic. Purists will tell you only a
select few are true Classics in the old car hobby. '57 Chevys are considered
an antique or collector car but definitely not a classic. The classic car club Of
America lists exactly what is, and what is not a CLASSIC.
Either way that lady at the OP's show was a putz and should have just handed
him a show flyer imo.

Look up or google: Classic Car Club Of America for a list of true Classic Cars.

Oh for the love of god, the very oldest of 5's are all of 8 years old. That's not a classic in any sense of the term unless you're talking mobile phones or computers.

Bitch about it 20 years from now and maybe you'll have a case.

As far as modern cars at shows, I don't have a problem with it in the least. What I do have a problem with is something off the showroom floor taking a "Best of Show" a class win over cars that have survived god knows what for 30-50 years. That's such a slap in the face to some of the insane restoration jobs that are out there or survivor cars.

So long as the show is classed accordingly where modern cars have their spot to shine without disgracing truly vintage cars, the more the merrier.

Not yet, but it will be. The styling and size. LS3 is the last of the easily modded hot rod engines IMO.

The 5th gen will be a very popular classic in another 18 years. Its retro style and old school muscle car look will be what everyone wants. Its the last of its kind for chevy with that look. Now everythings streamlined and not as distinctive.

I agree.....nothing new should be taking best in anything unless its heavily modded or customized. Ive seen it on these Camaro forums before.....new Camaro with a trophy .....just doesnt look right.

Old or vintage, is just one definition of "classic".
The Gen 5 is a modern classic. In that it was built on the classic design of a true muscle car.
And like Zedsled said, "its what an old school muscle car wanted to be". I like that one Zed

But I do understand the being able to just go out and buy a new car as opposed to actually restoring one. Although technically a person can purchase a fully restored old school classic if they have the means.

The 5th gen Camaro has a classic look, but won't be a classic until it can register for antique vehicle plates (25 years) IMO. Only 17 more years until mines a classic!

Give it another 30 years and it will be classic. Maybe.
