all that aside, why not hand him a flyer and invite him? ALOT of new Camaro owners also have classic cars. she did snub him for no good reason and I would not want to attend such an "elitist" show anyway! every damn one prolly has a "do not touch" sign and 20 sq ft of velvet rope around them!

Webster's: 'Classic'- "of the first or highest quality, class, or rank." "serving as a standard, model, or guide."

Just sayin...

While I agree with you that the person handing out the flyers was a snob, these so called "elitist" with the do not touch signs and "20 sq ft of velvet rope around them" have the signs for a reason. Their classic cars are more than likely worth a lot more than ours and if I had one I wouldn't want everyone coming up to it putting their hands on it either just like I don't want anyone doing that to my modern day car. Point being, don't group the people showing their cars at the classic car show with the snob handing out the flyers.

I respect other peoples property and items that don't belong to me. I don't lean on your vehicles or touch them. So don't do it to mine, I paid for the items not you and I will dam sure let people who do know about it.

That said... I think the Gen 5 will be one of the best modern cars and very popular for a long time. Kinda like the E39 BMW's... will be a modern favorite for many.
No the Gen 5 is not a classic, but unless a car show has a specific rule about latest year, people should be made welcome with newer cars.

BTW, any schmuck can buy a classic, too.

Here in New England, where most people put their rear wheel drive, high torque cars away for the winter, it's nice to gather at cruise nights and meet up with owners of similar cars, old or new.

Don't be a snob.

I go to a local car show here in Cincinnati most years - it's this weekend actually - Rollin' on the River - and agree that modern cars mostly don't belong in car shows.

My dad will possibly be there with his 86 Mustang GT Convertible, my uncle with whatever Ford suits his fancy that day (from a couple of different Model T's / A's to a 57 Thunderbird), my son's goofy friend with his 76 Cadillac Coupe DeVille - all good in my mind.

My kids asked me if I was going to enter my Camaro. I will probably (proudly) drive what I consider a beautiful piece of machinery into the lot, but will park with the rest of the general public and go look at the classics. To me, if you can buy it new or easily buy it used in pristine UNRESTORED condition, leave it out of the show. There's a few exceptions such as Indy Pace Cars or other truly limited editions, but I'm there to see the Model T's, 30's and 40's Fords and Mercs, 50's Chevys and Olds and Caddys, etc. 60's Impala SS? Oh, yeah. 60's Camaro? Oh, hell yeah!

I think cruise nights are a great idea for newer classics and don't really have a problem with people entering modern cars in a show except that there's usually limited space at most shows so lots of modern cars end up looking like a parking lot of nice cars.

Every car show I've been to has a flyer describing the classes. If there's a class for 1990-present, then there you have it. If you're a classic car snob and don't like it, find another show to go to or take it up with the organizers. I've heard a lot of pissing and moaning over the years.

+1. I am constantly shocked how free people are at some shows with someone else's property. I've seen one parent letting their kids climb on and damage someone's car. Women with purses oblivious to it dragging along the side of a car, nevermind people with strollers trying to squeeze between vehicles. People leaning on cars for pictures. We had a Cam/Firebird club up north that we'd have a yearly meet & greet at a park. Some parents walking with their children, were letting the kids run and put their hands all over every single one of the cars; opening and slamming fuel doors, etc. I find the mindset baffling. Then I pulled into a cruise with my IROC and a couple guys walked up when I parked. I popped the hood and one is opening it saying "I have a 3rd gen too, I know how to do it." I almost said, "Hey buddy, can f*** your girlfriend? I have a dick too and I know how to do it."

Sorry I was laughing at you last sentence. Im going to have to use that next time some jackass touches my car at a show. People now days aren't raised and don't raise their kids to respect other peoples property. Its also always nice to see kids with candy/ice cream all over their hands running towards your car and the parents are oblivious to it. I usually don't enter my car in car shows anymore for those reasons, not that my car is a show car anyways. lol

Love your reply... mine would have probably have been along the lines of, "In 20 or so years it will be... your Subie, won't be."

It made my damn eye twitch.

And any car is fine for a show, within reason. Someone rolled this beauty into a show years back. Had the biggest crowd around it with people taking pics. The organizer wasn't enthused. Guess the owner said he was friends with the organizer and said he approved it. BZZZT. Nope. I thought it was funny but I can understand you wouldn't want it to become the norm.
