My rent covers all expenses I incur to them in terms of utilities. I kick in for electric, and water, which are the only things that are more expensive by my being in the house. Phone is VOIP. I buy my own food. I do not pay for the actual rooming as they are not incurred any inconvenience by my being in it.

They actually want me to stay here because they like that I'm saving as much money as I am by doing so. Roughly 75% of my income.

Moving out is not even on the table. Just wondering how much of a scumbag I look like if I buy an SS1, which I can afford while still saving a tremendous amount.
Nah, I don't think you're spitting anything back in my face at all. You seem like a fairly cool guy. I'm sure your parents are telling you to stay. Nice parents do that. But that DOESN'T mean you aren't still mooching off them to an extent. Hey, I have a guest bedroom in my house, but would I rent it out if my renter paid to the penny their part of the bills? That's a definite no. It's more intangible than that. If I want to walk about naked in my own house, I can do it. Your mom can't. Well, she COULD, but she wouldn't w/ you there. The fact that you have come to this forum and are asking strangers about your situation points to it bothering you. And if it bothered you, I wouldn't do it.

Buy a house now, make a decent downpayment, get the nice new home buyer tax credit while you still can! And then you can turn around and use the tax credit on a new Camaro And now you own your own home AND have a sweet ride! (tis the route I went, workin out well so far!)

If you have a wife/girlfriend with good credit, buying a house with 2 incomes will look better than just 1

I got my new Firebird at around 20. My experience has been great. Payments were high and so was insurance but I took that car to the racetracks almost every weekend and had a blast. Made lots of friends in the process. All in all I would not give up that experience. Of course your experience may vary

I agree with Brokinarrow. I'm 26 years old and I've been out of my own for about 1.5 years (no living with parents, just grad school). I just bought my house in May and in late June I ordered my 2SS/RS VR. No better time to buy a house since you will get that $8k back. It is easy money right back to you. Then order the car. Hell, you could probably order the car now and have it right in time for when you get the tax credit back from buying your house.

If I was in your position, I would buy the car. You're paying your parents rent, and they want you to stay home. If anybody gives you any crap, tell them you're paying for your share.

Considering you already have a RELIABLE car, put off the purchase. You should put your money into a savings account & keep on saving. When you're ready, buy a house, then a Camaro. If you're ever in a relationship, you can show the woman that you're responsible. You'll have it made, House + Camaro. When you feel like it, upgrade to a new car, you won't have to get rid of your Camaro.

Before you decide to make the purchase, I think you should talk to your parents & see what they think. If they're ok with it & you want it THAT bad, just do it.

Lets see... I can completely relate. I'm 19, 20 next month. Still in college and working full time. Have a nice job considering I'm still in college working for AT&T as a Supervisor in a technical support call center. Living with my girlfriend whos taking a full load of courses, and not working. I'm paying for all the utilitys and the house payment by myself. Thankfully I get House phone, Internet, TV, and cellphones free. Lucky to have a nice job for my age.. But I have a 2009 Yamaha R6, and a 2003 Cadillac CTS. Almost regret not getting a used bike rather than a new one. Almost have the car paid off.. Then I may sell it or just keep it as a back up car and get a Used SS Camaro in a year or so.. But bottom line is, I regret buying a new Bike just because of the fact you could get a used one so much cheaper.. So I'll make up for it by getting a year or 2 old Camaro.

nothing wrong with living at home especially at your age. I'm 30yr old.. back at home.. came home to take care of mom RIP.. now i'm staying a lil longer to be by my dads side through the hard times..
I'm getting 2010 Camaro.. already ordered..
The thing is if you plan to move out don't blow all your money on a camaro payment..
Girls do prefer a guy to have his own place..

I'm saving money because it's good to save. Not really for a down-payment or the needed cash to move out.

I'd probably still finance it a little to build credit, and keep savings with me so I could be in the position to move out on a whim.

Buying the car does not slow me down as to moving out in any way. I just don't wanna move out, livin' at home is cheaper and my parents are more than happy to have me. Working 10 hour days, they barely even see me and I think they like charging me rent, and the fact that I clean.

Me living at home, is win-win. And I'm not even considering moving out. Seriously... I'm not. But I have the feeling I'd be a scum-bag owning a 31k car in my parents house. You guys have re-affirmed that for me.
Why do you have to feel like a scum-bag for buying a Camaro and living at home? Im 22 graduated from college and working full time. Im living at home and bought myself a 2LT. Being italian we dont think about moving out until an older age so i may be a minority but i dont think there is anything wrong wit it.

you know what you only live once and you never know for how long, just get up and go buy the car and enjoy it.

reason for saying this is i have lost 3 friends all young the youngest was 19 she was still in collage she was the type to wait to do anything with a guy till she was married she wanted to be proper, well last saturday a piece of shit 23 year old drunk driver killed her. she never got to be that chef she wanted to be and open a resturant.

ok sorry but hey i am 26 and live with my dad i work but i buy my toys to enjoy now one day i will move on but not now.

I just graduated college (with no debt), I'm currently living at home and I ordered a new Camaro. Also, I told my girlfriend (of 8 years) that I love my new Camaro (that isn't here yet) more then her. She understands.
