Key fob/ key
When I bought my 2012 RS, I received a regular key along with The old fob because the previous owner snapped the key off of the fob. The fob works. But I'd like to have a new one that doesn't have a broken key on it. I know how much the fobs are. Does anyone know if the fob/key is programmed easily? Or is it a programming that requires the dealer scan tool?

You can get a FOB on AMAZON for about $20. You just turn the key to the start position a few times then start the car. The dash will say 3 keys programmed. You can tap the pin out of the old key and the blank key and put the old key into the new FOB and tap the pin back in and you're all set.

Possible it wasn’t snapped off by the previous owner but was removed due to the key recall. You can but replacement fobs online but will need to get the new key laser cut to match the existing key. I think the programming sequence is in the owners manual as long as you have a working fob.

I bought an extra key for mine. I had the recall key. When I bought it (from my local chevy dealer) it was actually the switchblade key. Yay! Seems like each year has a specific method
Mine is a 2012 2SS and it is as simple as this

Hey there....you get it from your local Chevy dealer. After the recall they sent out a TSB and you will get them for free.
