HEMI sucks!
Hey guys. New to the forum. Just wanted to post something to remind everyone how fortunate you are to own a chevy. I'm a police officer, and my patrol car (2014 Charger with 78k miles and 5.7 HEMI) literally blew up while on a stop. The entire engine began to jump out of the engine bay while on a traffic stop, then started smoking. I thought it was going to shoot out of the bay like a bottle rocket. Now I'm in another charger which is just as crappy as that one.
Needed to rant a little bit. The speeder did get a warning. |

Well I'm stuck with my personal patrol vehicle. It's the only rear wheel drive V8 sedan approved for us to use. I tried getting the Chevy SS/Caprice approved, but was shut down due to equipment issues (their reasoning sucks). I'm due for a new car and I guess I'll be getting the 2018 5.7 Daytona (approved). Camaros, Mustangs and Challengers were not approved and the Chevy SS is not being produced anymore. So I'm stuck with another Dodge. Oh well, hope my new one will perform better.

Yeah, and GM never lost a motor. Haha!!!
To me they all suck. Just read tonight that the Camaro is rated as GM's least reliable vehicle ,and GM moved down 10 spots in reliability only a couple spots from the likes of Dodge and Jeep ,because they moved up a few. Overall the indusy as a hole has dropped in reliability thanks to four cylinder turbos. If you want a reliable cop car buy a Camry not a Camaro. If you want performance that will haul crooks off to Jail, Charger, SS or Tarus 3.5ecoboost is what you need. I've been around many 5.7Hemis since they came out. They are generally a very reliable motor. Last edited by motorhead; 11-30-2017 at 05:31 AM. |

Especially since the 5.7 has been around forever.
Heard there's a new v8 coming from Dodge

We tried, but wasn't approved. They said the height was a problem for our headquarters garage, especially with the light bar attached.
