If you are going to go to college and join the military do the officer route. Makes no sense to go to college and join as enlisted.

I didn't bother reading the whole thread, so this has probably been said before. But if you have to ask if you can afford it, you probably can't.

And I mean that in the least dickish way possible

true but not all people are meant to be leaders, and in my opinion a college degree doesnt mean you should be leader. To be honest I think thats a problem with the military at least the army right now. There are two many officers that officers just because they have a degree, and for that fact to many NCO's that are the rank they are just because the army is short that rank and must promote these people higher. This type of guy shouldnt be one unless he changes his attitude

Not to mention all the political and ideological things I have against joining the military.

Layoff I'm a good person.. you people like to judge? Well sucks to be you I guess I'm judging too.

BTW my BS degree is pretty much invisible to employers. It was apparently one of those majors that was only good as a stepping stone to go on to be a doctor or something, which I have no desire to be, and I didn't know that so I effed myself.

Get off your arse and do something instead of crying "poor me".
Dude, seriously, you have no clue what it's like to be in my shoes. I have looked for many many years now and yes THIS is the best job I could find.
Oh I went to a few interviews. I got attacked with 85 questions all starting with "tell me a time when..."

For example "Tell me a time when you had an angry customer..."

WHen I've never had an experience for most of these things.
Sure NOW I do that I finally have had a retail job but it's not like you work with customers all the time going to college or working in construction or working from home on the internet. It pissed me off to no end because I KNEW I'd do great at the job, which I proved when I finally got one. It's not like you need tons of experience to know how to just be nice to a person and try and help them.

I keep thinking that, but, if he's a Troll, he's kinda ineffectual.

IBTL

I think the question has been answered. No you can't afford one right now.

Good Luck
