Honestly I don't think this launch was a huge success the Challenger did it in less time and no BS, from a lesser company, so no this isnt that great a launch

Maybe they are worried the car will be a little stale by the time it gets here. So they are leaving a few things to keep everyone interested and on their toes in anticipation. (CGM, ABL, etc.)

The Challenger was built off an existing chassis and it doesn't have anywhere near the options the Camaro has. Speaking in general terms the Camaro is a completely new car. As projects go it is a vastly more complicated effort that delivering the challenger was. Again you are looking for ways to slam GM. You argument is loosing credibility with comparisons like this.

GM never said no CGM. CGM will begin to be built in APRIL. This is only one month off...not going to kill anyone here. That this from ME as FACT (up to date info - and don't ask for sources because I sure as heck won't give them!!!). Let's stop the CGM issue, please. It's a paint. There isn't a "problem" with it. It WILL be here. ABL is still an issue since we don't know if it will make it or not. Quote:

There are a number of open items just 33 days from production:
> New expanded factory installed stripe list....for which trim lines? > Prices and codes for split Hockey/Hood stripe packages which was supposed to occur > Will a Spoiler Delete Option/RPO be offered for those getting the RS Package or SS and wanting to add the different mounting High Wing Spoiler? > order date for GMPP parts > CGM availability > Ambient Lighting outcome Not a slam, just things to keep in mind. EDIT: Oops, CGM available in April!

Your point ??? I mean granted they used existing stuff , but they did it in a year...oh and ps the Camaro is basically a G8 so its not COMPLETELY brand new like stated above and they have had 3 YEARS!!!

My point is that you said the Challenger did it in less time and with no BS. They did it in less time by putting a body on a chassis that was already in production when the concept came out, and there was a pile of smelly BS with the car in it's first 6 months of launch.
They had options missing off the hop (LSD, Transmission and engine choices) and the Camaro might/will as well (ABL maybe, HUD for sure, and some color options.) No big deal for either car. There are people who will take each car no matter what problems it has just to say they are the first to have it, and there are people who will wait to get what they want. It's not like this will be the first time in history that a car gets more stuff later on than it had at launch. To wait or not to wait, that is your question. |

FYI, the Camaro IS a complete NEW architecture. 3 years to bring a new car to market...YES. And, the 3 year timeline will be up in Aug (when GM announced plans to build the car). If you want to argue that the timeline should be started in Jan, fine...we'll be two months over 3 years. Too bad we aren't going by the Jan timeline, though. |
