Dash cracks
The 2 Camaros developed the same crack. I've been in contact with GM customer service and getting fixed soon. I have the same crack on both cars!
These are the cracks on BLUDIMN |

dash cracks
This is the dash on "ESS" aka AZSS6SPD. Similar crack on the air bag area. I am happy now that GM customer service has been helpful with my dilema. I notified all my Camaro friends to check their dashes. "ESS" has 11,800 miles and "BLUDIMN" has 5,248 miles. If you see an indentation; you have this problem coming up; especially the crack shape. |

It looks pretty good. There are a few marks and scratches that appear to be from the dash replacement.
I don't know that most people would notice them but they stand out to me. I;m in no position to complain considering mine was repaired out of warranty. It seems the interior of these cars is very prone to scuffs and scratches, but a small price to pay for such a great car. I hope that the interior was the only place corners were cut. |

So I got mine back yesterday, not happy! The color doesn't match the door panels, the new dash is lighter. There are gaps around the gauge bezels. The steering wheel is a few degrees off. The real issue there is alot of noise coming through the speakers now.

Traded my 2010 Camaro for a 2012 new Silverado 1500 yesterday
and I couldn't be more happy. Spent the day in four wheel drive. I'll miss the Camaro5 forum. It has been the most informative place for so many aspects of ownership. Between the almost overwhelming aftermarket support in the way of upgrades and accessories for the Gen 5 Camaro and the information available by the generosity of the many members of this forum, Camaro owners are very fortunate. I just hope the Silverado forums are as good. ![]()

I thought that I was the only one!! I doubt that GM will replace my dash, I have less than 30,000 miles, but I have had my car since June of '09. I just noticed this a few weeks ago since my car sits in the garage during the winter and I happened to pull the car out to clean out the garage during a 60 degree day here. I was so mad, but I really hope that they get a TSB or something for this, there is no reason the dash should be cracking this early in its life!!

I can't believe this. I know I have read about this problem but I was washing BlackIce finally after a long 2 months of just brush less car washes and I find the infamous crack on mine. I hope also GM fixes it cause I have 43,000 miles on it. We will see. Calling my dealer now.

Well it's time for me to get back in on this thread. I noticed while cleaning my car the other day that the crack in my own dash is now much larger, like the recent pics. Probably now about 6 inches and completely separated. I have my car at Classic Chevrolet Grapevine right now getting the front timing cover re-sealed, and I asked my service adviser to take a look at the crack for me. I know that it's past warranty, but I see that a lot of other people in this thread have had good customer service experiences and that they're replacing dashes even outside of the bumper to bumper warranty. I'm hoping to get in contact with customer service as well so they can hopefully give approval to Classic to go ahead and replace my faulty dash. I would post pics, but as I said it's now at the dealer. Cross your fingers for me!

I didn't even have to call service, my dealer told me they would goodwill the dash for $100 after they saw it. They did a good job. Just two minor things wrong, a rattle and a trim piece not installed correctly. Not bad for what I'm sure pays very little to the tech.

I work at a dealer, and I know GM is stingy, but I'm out of my bumper to bumper warranty so I have no problem paying $100 for what I'm sure is close to a $4,000 job. I was actually impressed that I didn't have to call customer service. Different mindsets I guess. I knew about this while I could have had it done for free (I started this thread), I just kept holding out hope that it wouldn't get worse. GM owes me nothing for foolishly waiting to get it taken care of, so I'm happy to pay that out of pocket to get it done.
