I'd figure that they'd at least be consistent... with all the paint jobs being messed up, or none of them. It makes no sense to have a handful of cars out of a big batch to have messed up paint.

Little issue... that would depend on how bad the mismatch is, I for one think that the recently delivered IOM and the pic of the RJT goes beyond a " little issue"
If I wanted a two tone car I'd have looked for that option, my wive's last two Pathfinders have had plenty of plastic painted areas and no such issue and GM should be able to do the same.
If indeed they are having suppliers do some of their painting...there in lies the issue, all painting should all be done at the plant as each car rolls down the line.....because even their finish can vary day today...or week to week.
I'm absolutely OCD and would flip if mine came through like that, I just wanna check my car over ,hand over some cash, sign some paperwork and be on my way.

For god sakes... even if this ONE CAR really is messed up, find me ONE other one that sports the same issue. Shit happens! You should never take delivery of a car with mismatching panels. Your dealer should either fix it or order a new vehicle if this happens to you.
In all fairness he did say had a 2006 GTO and there are other posts that he has a 2010 Camaro on order. He enjoys all sides of the enthusiast car brands and he is particular about quality (but justifiably so...It is the customers hard earned money and things should be right the first time).

You bring up a good point here is that the customer is the final QC approver and ultimately is responsible for the agreement of purchase at the time of delivery. We should however be realistic of our expectations and understand that the dealer is there to listen and resolve the differences.

When our cars arrive we will all have to remain calm and objective as much as possible. It will be easy to allow our emotions to get involved after waiting so long, going through all the channels, and dealing with all the infuencing effects of the economy.

With that said:
I myself will have to turn around, close my eyes, take a deep breath and very slowly let it out......or reach for xanax.

I hope that's just lighting. That's no good at all.
And no that is not acceptable (plastic vs metal). I own an 18 year old Vette, and it's factory paint matches perfectly. There is no excuse for this.

This is not a minor issue. For instance, if owner tried to sell this car down the road, it may lead to buyers questioning whether it has been in a car accident or not. I'd have the dealer repaint.

I agree and if was to take deliver and saw that on my car I would have left it right there and said see ya!

I am not gonna feed into this stuff. When my 2SS arrvives, I will go over it very, very carfully.

If it is not up to my standards, I will politely ask for my deposit back and just walk away.

Simple as that.

Wow, that is a dramatic difference, but thanks for showing how different the color can look in various lighting.

Cmon guys, there is no reason to defend GM on this issue. They have screwed this up..You can place blame on suppliers..etc..however GM at the plant is installing these bumpers and then letting them pass quality control inspections..The dealers aren't even saying anything unless the customer brings it up and points it out.. This is a serious issue that I hope gets rectified before more deliveries with the same problem occurs.. The simple fix for already delivered cars would be to send a brand new painted bumper to the dealer for a swap and everyone's happy. GM needs to acknowledge the issue and state what they are going to do about it. Why this hasn't happened is beyond any reasonable thinking. My car is probably going to be built within the next month, I just pray I don't waste an airline ticket for nothing when I go pick the car up..

I am not doubting the one you saw may have been mismatched. The purpose of my post was to thank the poster of the picture for showing that different lighting may have an effect on the color.

It is entirely possible for there to be mismatched cars, I have not seen the car in person that you are talking about so I can't say for sure.
