Like others on this thread I'm noticing it happened only once, one driving session. I also see an electronic glitch with the fan. Sometimes the speed number doesn't change. There are some electron demons in here ...

No rattle on my dash. They did a nice job and it took them about 4 hours from what I can figure.

My first problem since picking up my 2013 Camaro back in April.
At exactly 10,000 miles, the HUD display faded out and turned off.
It does come on intermittently, but mostly it stays off.
I've worked as an electrical engineer for 23 years and can tell the problem is in the main unit (not fuse, switch or wiring).
I made an appointment with the Chevy dealer next week but am wary about the whole "ripping out the dash" thing to get to the HUD unit.
Why it's not modular in this day of high tech engineering ........ I don't know.

I'm also getting the software glitch on the fan speed indicator.

My HUD was doing the same thing. I took it to the dealer, showed them a video of it happening and they replaced it. It's been fine ever since.

I have not had this problem with mine, it is a 2013 with October 2012 build date. I have had the fan speed glitch before, has happened a couple of times, and even when the fan is off, it still blows air

From the research I did a three months ago when I had this problem I found 3 things.
  • It's only happening on the 2013's. I have no freaking clue why.
  • It does it once, and I swear to *** you can't repeat it at a dealer. Or ever.
  • Since it malfunctioned on that day, it has worked ever since Which was on par with everyone I saw complaining about it.

So essentially, I got nothin

Car was built May 27 2013

I logged my experience at 948 miles on July 19th. Has never happened again.

EDIT: looking at my notes, my air conditioner failed the same day. Both fixed themselves...Was sweating bullets and had no HUD. Was pissed.

I've had the fan speed issue early on within the first 500 miles, but I don't believe it has happened since. I'm sitting at 2200 miles.

I haven't had the fading HUD or fan issues, mine is the radio display going out on the HUD and it started on mine with 306 miles on the clock, second day I owned her. It's annoying, but I discovered if I switch to USB, which always shows the song title, and wait until it goes back to the normal display, then switch back to whatever station I was listening to, it will start displaying song information on the HUD again. For that trip, anyway. I have had a problem with even the USB showing song information on the USB if she was parking in the sun for any length of time, though.

If my songs don't display in the HUD, I just turn the radio off and right back on, fixes it 100% of the time.

Sorry to hear about the HUD concerns. I understand how displeasing that can be and I'm happy you're all set for an official diagnosis. Please keep me updated on the process and don't hesitate to send a message if additional assistance is needed.

HUD possible issue- faded out

Last Saturday I traveled 90 miles to Lingenfelter's fundraising event at the Brighton, Michigan Collection. Before I explain what happened- keep I'm mind my HUD is always on when I drive.

On my way home I flicked my display mode from the trip setting to the Average mile per gallon setting. Once I flicked the left handle knob to do this, my HUD faded out on my windshield. It then turned back on at full brightness quickly but then faded out again instantly. This went on for the whole ride home. I was thinking it had to do with something electrical as it seem to have started when I hit my left lever knob to change my display settings on my instrument dash.

After getting home I turned my engine over after turning it off. The HUD remained on after this restart of the engine. The past few days it has been normal. Has anyone had this same experience with their Heads Up Display?

Mine did the same thing back in August on a long road trip to Florida and back. Stopped to get gas so turned off engine and when turned back on no more problems.
Have not had the problem since. When I take it to get the oil change will be asking about this...

Sorry to hear of the issue, of course I'm going to just ask the obvious, the HUD was turned up all the way with the brightness? I'm just asking to figure out if maybe on full brightness for a prolonged period caused this. I wear polarized sunglasses and when I do use it during the day I usually put it on full blast so I can see it well past the glasses.

Search around the forum, there are multiple threads citing this problem. Mine did the same earlier this year but was inconsistent. I'm waiting for it to fail completely, if it does, to bring in for warranty since I fear an inexperienced tech tearing the dash apart and doing more harm than good.
