Ok, just read the whole thread. To sum up, tires are side specific and even though same tire size all around, cant rotate because of front/rear rim offsets? Am I correct? Just got my 1LE a couple of weeks ago and it only has 2,000 miles on it, so not ready for tires yet,
but trying to learn all I can.

correct.............to a point
1st: tires are left and right, so should not be swapped side to side. they can when in a bind, but they shouldn't
2nd: the front rims will go on the back of the car, no problem.
3rd: the rear rims WILL NOT go on the front. the inside of the rim hits the strut

you can rotate your tires front to back, but they need to be broken down and have the rims swapped

Thank you h01. I guess I'll just leave them alone. I was thinking about the breakdown, but no thanks. The less someone else touches my car, the happier I am

Question

Just got my 1LE, and absolutely love nearly everything about the car...except the tires when it's cool or wet. I want this to be a daily driver and occasional track toy. If I survive the summer on them, I'm considering doing one of two things:

1. Replace them with Michelin AS3s
2. Replace them with Michelin PSS and get Pirelli Scorpions for the winter months

Anyone have any recommendations?

Is this what you wanted IC? Not sure, but this is courtesy of Cooly in the string.

Tire and Wheel Specs:
Tires;
285/35ZR20 front and rear. OEM is Goodyear Eagle F1
Supercar G:2 (100y) for 2013 model year. The tires are side
specific (left or right), and weigh 31 lbs per tire. Overall dia.
is 27.9" * weight and dia. info borrowed from TireRack.com*
Wheels; 10" front, 11" rear width: Offset; Front: 23mm, Rear: 43mm (stamped on the back side of the wheels)

Here's a thread on the ZL1 forums that addresses factory offsets:

I did a quick search on Tire Rack.com and found two options for all season tires which would are the same size tire:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...35&diameter=20

If you try other vendors, your results may vary.

Has anyone weighed the stock wheels? I'm trying to compare them to the standard wheels. I know our tires already shave off some weight compared to the stock pirellis

I am wanting to get a 1LE, I recently test drove a standard manual 1SS followed by a 1SS 1LE, and it was a night and day difference. The concern is the summer only tires that from all accounts degrade faster than other tires and are not effective in wet weather, and a definite no-go in cold weather.

What I want to know is, would there be a rim size + all weather tire combo that would go well on this car for regular day to day driving and regular tire rotation that is much less expensive for just driving around town? That way the slick black rims and high end tires that come on the car could be saved for track days or spirited summer driving on winding roads.

I know some wheel sizes have more expensive tires because they are a less common wheel size. What is the most common wheel size that will fit the 1LE setup, allowing for some more sidewall and such for everyday use?

Unfortunately to get a set of replica wheels and all season tires that will fit these cars right will cost at minumum $2000. Likely $2500 by the time all is said and done. I just drove home today for the first time in a serious rainstorm with my 1LE. I was pretty worried, but I was pleasantly surprised that it did ok. I guess I'm use to driving mid-sized pickups with decent power and light rearends. So the 1LE certainly felt as stable as my trucks in the past. You just have to careful, use common sense, and you should be fine in the rain.
Now cold weather is the thing I still haven't decided on yet what to do either. I'm in Texas, so I have a few more options than those up north. But it still gets cold enough I don't want to drive on my F1's. One way or another, i expect to be spending some serious money for tires and possible wheels come winter time.

Oh, I expected a pricey up front cost, but after some research, the replica wheels for SS Camaro don't seem to be too outrageous. I am thinking I would probably go with those for everyday use, and keep the factory rims and tires in a heated garage for when I wanted to use them.

Let me say, I am aware of the staggered rims with same tire size that come on the car, and the reason to eliminate understeer. That being said, I don't drive recklessly, and am not hard on tires. (Meaning I don't do burnouts, or anything that needlessly eats up tires quickly.) Tires in general last a long time for me and my driving habits.

Would having the same size rim on all four corners and going with an all season, non-directional specific tire for purposes of standard tire rotation be too detrimental to the handling of the car? I'm looking for longevity for regular day to day driving here. (keeping in mind I'd have the factory rims and tires saved for track days and spirited driving purposes, and therefore get longer life out of them as well.)

Is such a setup even possible, or been done by anyone here yet? Any feedback would be appreciated, I'm just trying to get educated on these things before buying the car so I can have a plan in place.

I am in need of tires and am considering another set of Goodyears, Michelin PSS or BFG Rivals. Does anyone have track experience with the BFGs and how they compare with the Goodyears? It seems that the Michelins are a better road tire, but are they a better track tire?

I guess I was thinking of maintaining the 285/35 size all around.
