Awesome tires.
Those have a bit more tread on them than the Z/28 shown at C5Fest.

No, 10-15 seconds at 150 MPH is a really long distance.

I do this at least twice a week. It's quite exhilarating actually. We share a glass of scotch afterwards with our little china doll Baxter.

A lot of people here seem to be confusing better with faster. I would say, without question, the ZL1 is the better track car. Is it the faster track car though? That's pretty much up in the air depending on track selection and driver. Some Castrol SRF (DOT 4 is recommended for track use in the manual) in the GT500 would make endurance comparisons much more interesting.
I'm with you 100%!!! How on earth are these folks able to say the ZL1 is faster??? Say What??? Everytime the Shelby is faster, yeah it may be only the first two or three laps, but fast laps are judged by the FASTEST LAP TIME. And the Shelby will get that every time. I'd say unless you take them to Germany and put them on the Ring. Then I easily predict the ZL1 would win by a truly significant margin. Why, because the Ring is over 12 miles and the U.S. Tracks are usually two or three. A 12 mile run for the Shelby and the Brakes would be completely Toasted. The Ring has something like 160 plus turns and I'd bet the ZL1 could go numerous laps all with consistent lap times! That's why it's usually chosen as the "better" or "winner" in the comparison tests. But if its the same driver doing the test in each car, well every article I've read the driver chose the Shelby.

You assume very long straights. With as many turns as the ring has, I don't think that would be the case. Either car would still look good in my garage.

I would gladly take one of each

The Camaro makes the average driver look like a pro at the track. The Mustang requires real driving skill to look like a pro at the track.

When I'm wound up I actual enjoy throwing the Mustang around the curves more than the Camaro & Challenger. It's a great stress releaser.

That's why all the Pro drivers pick the Shelby over the ZL1. It takes more personal skill. So for me not even being remotely close to a pro drivers ability the ZL1 is still miles above my ability. So it allows me the opportunity to keep improving my skill level. I think the Shelby would for sure be the death of me, just way way to much uncontrollable power for my skill set. I have to say I love going into a turn and getting that chirping sound, especially if have a passenger! The look of terror on their face is always priceless! Plus the No-Lift-Shiting is fun fun fun!

With that being said, people are mainly going to buy what they think looks good. The GM fanboys will buy the Camaro, the Ford fanboys will buy the Mustang. There isn't too much that is going to change that. The people that drive the sales don't particularly care about a lot of the capabilities of the car. If GM & Ford put a 250 hp V8 under the hood today, people would still buy it.
I assumed this vid was from the fastest Shelby on the Ring, the one with wiglets on the front. I was wrong, this vid was from the stock blue car, not as stable as you can see from the vid. In any case, this is a fun to watch video and nothing more. There is no official time, so why even debate it. The ZL1 wins here, and I'm OK with that. Either car would be a great addition to any enthusiast garage, right?

Pro racers, and I was one briefly, will always go for the most consistent car. A race is won over a series of laps, not just one. No doubt the Shelby is fast, but with the solid axle and narrower rubber, fast isn't enough to make a pro select it., when there is an easier to drive option. We like to save our hero runs for when needed.

This is valid. I like my Boss because it is more fun on the track than my old Bimmer. Took me a while to really get comfortable with what it could do, which is beyond what I imagined. As an occasional track toy, this is exactly what I'm looking for. I wanted they thrill as much as, if not more than the outright numbers. Plus it forces me to be a better driver, which in itself is rewarding. And finally it take a track beating without any issues, unlike every single German car I have ever owned. I'm sure the Camaro is the same in this regard, shame I never see them at the track.

There is no official lap time. If Ford ever ran a stock Shelby Supersnake time that was faster than the ZL1 EVERY AUTOMOTIVE MAGAZINE would have a story in it, with pictures and video. Here's some of the official times in the so-claimed time window - No Shelby - Yes a Ford GT at 7:40.6

Anf the car people are talking about is a GT500, not a super snake which is a post title package-not from Ford
