The car started to miss a little, instead of parking it and pulling the plugs at the least, I continued to drive it. One day I got aggressive with the car and put the car I to boost. The miss was intermittent and I blew it off. When I punched the car it was most likely still down a cylinder. The miss felt like it was a loaded plug or something so when I made the decision to put the car Into boost, all I did was brake something. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Matt will have you back up in good order. Sorry to hear about the problems but I respect the attitude about it all. We build em and look for the next weakest link...

And thanks, I really can't be, and am not, upset. Its part of having a car like mine and yours. My only problem or disadvantage is the timing of it. Right after the purchase of my house. After investing in some home improvements, and what not. There is not much left for the car this next year. Still may have the option of going to a forged motor, but I honestly need to sharpen a pencil and not bring up the subject around my GF. She is real cool about me spending on the car, but deep down I know she is not happy. In her eyes she doesn't really want me to have anymore power lol. She has a blast at the track. But she is a nervous wreck.

Rodney got the engine out, once then got it apart they found 4 rod bearings that were gone, or bad. Ill get pics of the damaged bearings soon as i get them.

Just an update, FSP is shipping me the engine, so that me and a friend can replace pistons, rods, bearings, and oil pump. Pics will come soon as I get the motor in my hands. My friend from C5, is going to help me do the work. Once the engine is done, ill ship it back down to Matt. Pictures of the failed bearings, and pics of the build to come, some time in January.

Well, ttshovel, and myself, got it all torn down, and I dont think I have ever seen this. The bearings are bad on the rod side of the bearing, not the crankshaft side. Anybody wanna guess or speculate as to the cause? Has anybody ever seen this?
We made out the parts list, and I hope to have everything ordered this weekend. I need the pistons so the machine shop can bore it .10 over and rods so he can balance the rotating assembly. I know my build thread has gotten to be a long read, thanks for following it!

I hope you get it figured out. Im curious to see what the root cause was. Do you think this miss that you experienced was caused by the bad bearings? Or do you think the bad bearings were caused when you ran it hard after the miss?

Thats what I am trying to find out. Until I know the cause of the failure, i cant say what it was. A few people I talked to seem to think its oil starvation.

Man, that sucks... did you mic the rod caps on the rods to compare to the others to see if any elongated (I believe oil starvation would increase the heat on the rod cap and possible allow the bearing to move and spin) -- but it does look like the bearing actually spun around -- as I see one of the tabs -- but not the other (I'm assuming 2 tabs)...
What I've done in the past was check the torque using a torque wrench to see if any became 'loose' -- just to eliminate that -- a 'check' to verify before dis-assembly... -Don

I meant to ask -- are you running and external oil cooler or factory?
Thanks! -Don

I'd mic the rods (inside after installing the cap and torquing them) in 4 areas (90, 180 and then 60 and 120 degrees) just to see how they compare to the others. Then, I'd check the rod lengths. Its possible the caps stretched or 'warped'.
You would think the bearings would 'burn' also from heat -- those don't look like it, but I'd want to check clearances for the rods and inspect the block to make sure nothing in the oil passages is 'leaking' that fed the rods (I'm assuming they'll 'xray' the block before maching it). Seeing the bearings in that shape is odd for sure -- hope you find out what did it. Hell, might be time to look into a crate LXS-B15 or short block! -Don

My local machine shop will magnaflux the block to check it. He is doing main studs, so a line bore is needed. Along with cam bearings and the .010 overbore to get the compression ratio that he wants.
