Since the cat has been let out of the bag so to speak, at the very least we should be hearing something official real soon unless all this negative backlash causes GM to rethink their strategy.

I for one hope it stays rear wheel drive however the masses (the V6 buyers) are the ones that will still buy the car regardless if its front rear or all-wheel drive. Yes there are some enthusiasts who would welcome front wheel drive as well but the far majority of enthusiasts will not be happy and perhaps push them over the edge to get a Mustang or Challenger as their next car purchase. Hopefully the Vette stays rear wheel drive however now that GM is owned by the US Government. However it isn't far fetched that perhaps the next big push will be to change that platform as well to make it more fuel efficient.

If the next-gen Camaro goes FWD IT WILL NOT BE BECAUSE OF CAFE. It will be because chevy might not have a RWD platform for it. If The Zeta II goes away and The alpha platform is too expensive, that would be the real reason, not some bogue CAFE excuse. If that is the case then Chevy can easily copy one of Ford's tricks for the mustang. For an example Ford constantly adjusted the fox platform the mustang was on for 20 years or so keeping it competitive. And Ford will do the same thing with the current mustang which I believe is called DEW lite. (Lincoln LS chasis if I am correct). The next gen mustang in about 2014, I bet will remain on that platform, ford will keep to its usual tricks. if there is no RWD chasis for a next gen camaro then Chevy should follow Fords example and Keep the Zeta II, Tweek it through the years etc... It is a solid platform. But Mark my words it the camaro goes FWD, its competition form Toyota, Hundai, and Ford WILL BE RWD. NOT GOOD.

Hey my Deville is FWD and I love it. I think if we get Obama involved in GM (Government Motors) a little more, he could offer a "$4,000 Cash for Retro Fit" have all Camaro owners bring in their cars and have the drive train swapped out for FWD! What a great plan for a stimilus package! Look how everyone is already stimulated on the forum!

The only retrofit I'd take my Camaro to would be for a flux capacitor and a Mr. Fusion along with making the car fly when I want to get out of rush hour. .

And a broader research project has revealed that not only can you gain fuel economy by simply putting a hybrid badge on the car, they have unlocked the true secret to the Prius. It isn't just that it has a hybrid badge, but is WHERE it is placed on the car that has the biggest single impact.

And early results indicate that simply putting sticker on the car indicating more displacement or cylinders than are actually under the hood can result inup to 4 additional HP.

These technological discoveries applied to the FWD Camaro will be the secret to previously un imagined performance and fuel economy.

Stay tuned......truly exciting stuff,

I can't believe that everyone here actually thinks Chevrolet would change the Camaro to FWD. That's absolutely nuts. Send me something official. GM is not going to spend all that money to tool down for FWD. Like said above, it would drive the buyers to Dodge and Ford.

again......if this is true. GM is being RETARDED. you should never EVER turn a camaro into a FWD. If Mustang was FWD I would never buy a new generation mustang ever. Burnouts are meant for the rear wheels!! Not to mention fishtails and taking corners with your ass-end kicking out!

thats what rear wheel is all about! F**k FWD!!!
