I think the cam is the main difference between the two motors and that is where your 22 HP comes from.

If the lifters in the L99 are limited (or heavier) from the factory than the LS3 is for me.
I had a long conversation with an engineer from Eaton on this subject. They designed the valvetrain for the L99. To make a long story short....I went with the manual and LS3 as a result of that conversation. He was not happy with the valvetrain as it came out, and indicated that doing anything to change it (cams) would result in a bigger pile of worms than most people would want to get into because of all the programming that went along with the system. I'd hate to be the guinea pig on this system....hence save the $1000 and go with the manual with that beautifull easy to push clutch

In fact i believe that is why they put speed limiters on the auto's. So the tranny dont grenade on ya at triple digits.
you need to do some research before you post. the reason the computer controlled speeds are what they are is due to the speed ratings of the tires.
the auto trans that they have put in this car will deal with plenty of power from the car. unless you are drag racing non stop with a trailer hooked to the car, the auto will go just as fast as the manual. +/- .1~.2 sec.

I'm with ya all the way with going with the manual, Yesterday I was behind a mustang sounded good for a ford It's raining the light turn green and stang revs and car jumps sideways going up a little incline. Started day dreaming about driving a manual camaro again with a bit more HP. Can't drive a stick anymore because of motor cycle crash, So GM for the crash guys the old guys that don't like the manuals give up the Ala-Carte Camaro Saying Ls3 just sounds better not to mention the after market goodies.
