Here is a compare image between my Z28 and the SS. I was going to use it as a way to show the difference and make the subtle changes apparent to some people.

The details are the same between the views. I used latest hi-res version of my concept to make each image, including the new one. The lip doesnt point up the side taper down on the sides.

Ex: Look at a 03-04 Mach 1 bumper's lip spoiler. Its not suppose to be level with the ground like ground dragger body kit. I designed it have minimal ground clearance loss.

Design aside, the lip of a car shouldn't point up. The back end of the lip is still the lowest point so how is there any more of a clearance loss?

Furthermore, from a physics standpoint, your design is...well...wrong.

The greater the tilt, the greater the drag...which is not what you want. You want down force...

The sides taper down like I said. the surface that actually acts like a foil is the direct front which is not pointing up. The foil surface the level to the ground, the sides are basically drooping down. The side view show the tapering sides more. Think of the sides as wedges and foil is in between and is connected to the wedges points. The front end on the Camaro is boxy compared tot he car like a vette. the fit is different.

As for the clearance, think curb clearance. Closer to the wheelsthe lowest body point is the better. also the steeper the angle from the lowest point close to the wheel to the front of the bumper the better fro clearance.

Ex: if the lowest point is on the tip of the bumper then speed bumps become a problem. If the lowest point is close to the wheels, then the wheel have a much mor elikely chance to have contact with the speed bump before the body does.

Homework: attach a ruler to the front of a bumper so that it is 4 inches from the ground. Go over speed bump or an parking lot entry that incline up. Im sure the ruler will be ripped off. Now attach the same ruler to bumper from the fenderwell area on the bumper with 4 inches from the ground. Try the same manuever.

Talking Faint

That is the most beautiful car I've ever seen, maybe Mr. Jinx should work for GM, i would buy that in a heartbeat without even knowing the specifications.

Would you mind re-typing the first paragraph, it is hard to understand. If you are extremely concerned about clearance why don't you just flatten out the bottom. It looks like a crooked picture frame. I don't think an inch is extremely vital to ground clearance either, I bet the Corvette is still lower per inch of nose extension than this would be anyways.

Its the look I wanted. Sorry if it looks like a crooked picture frame to you.

First Paragraph in picture form:

Has for aiming the sides down, I wanted the path of the eyes to flow from the fenderwell end of the splitter to the side skirts.

As for clearance, its courtesy consideration. No one wants to hit a curb when they park. You are right it could be be lower but I did chose to do it that way. You dont like it. Sorry.

Oh man, by no means do I not like it. This is an awesome rendering. It's just that small spot and I have a feeling it has more to do with borderline OCD than anything lol!

It ok. This goes into the part I mention elsewhere, where subtle things that are done to creat certain effects. I wanted to lean away from having the front bumper's bottom from being parallel with the ground if viewed fromt he side. I didnt want it to look too much like a vette and deviate fromt he muscle car appearance. So little angle that play with the eye is something I needed to use.

Here is a different angle that shows the sides and the front too:

The circle area in red is the area in question and begins the angle down from the red line to the wheel.

The SS bumper's chin spoiler sides do the same, but have the bulk that rolls under in the area that would be circled in red in this pic. The GM concept had vents in this area. I didnt want to leave there design to much, as that would prolly mees up my subtle for aggressive attempt.

Awesome, thanks for the explanation. Btw, I truly hope that grille sees the aftermarket. You should truly try sell/market that design. I think a lot of people would pick it up for sure as well as the lower grill.

The upper grille is actually a revised version of the one used on the IVER cars. I loved that design and I thought a refined version would be nice, but I think Gm wanted to stick to the concept to ensure that they pleased the majority. I thougth now that people have the concept look, I thought something different could be tried. Im not sure if the IVER grille is patented, but I think its a safe bet GM has it patents on it.

As for the lower grill, its wider than the SS and a tad taller. But I think an aftermarket version thats in the SS's dimensions would look good. I would rather see the whole deal though.

If not for GM, atleast some aftermarket company designing bodykits should swoop him up on their design team

they need to do what they did w/ the Terlingua Mustang. Get a V6 Camaro, and make a track car out of it.
