I got mine day before yesterday (Amazon $19.80), almost done reading it. I did find a typo and a couple of minor inaccuracies (IMO). When discussing the '67 first gen, it says that the 396 big block became available at the end of calender year 1996, I think they mean 1966.
On the next page minor things, they talk about the creation of the Z28 to compete with Barracudas and Challengers, Challengers didn't exist until 1970. They also mention what the Z28s came with option wise I THINK, could have been the actual race cars they're refering to I suppose. Somewhat misleading it says they came with the rear disc brakes from a Corvette. This is somewhat true, the four piston caliper used on the FRONT disc brakes in '67 was the same part number as the rear disc brake caliper used on 4-wheel disc brake Corvettes of the era. Front disc brakes were part of the first gen Z-28 package. Camaros didn't get a 4-wheel disc brake option until '69 and it wasn't mandatory on Z28s. Also don't remember Z-28s having a larger gas tank. Almost sounds like they got Camaros confused with Z-06 Corvettes back then. Nit-picking I know but it did stand out to me when I read it. Still a great book every Camaro enthusiast should own. |

I also thought it was interesting when Cheryl Pilcher was discussing when it was decided there would be no T-tops, she didn't mention anything about crash standards or safety concerns. But I would think that had to be of some concern to get the 5-star crash rating they desired. Made it sound like she just prefered sun-roofs instead.
BTW: Amazon's shipping department could use some work. |

Finished it last night. I must say, for a blindly loyal GM person as myself, was a little emotional and felt my chest puff out with pride for how dedicated MY GM is with building their cars these days. Simply unbelievable what it takes and all the obstacles that must be overcome to build something as complicated as ANY car these days, let alone build a car with the high quality and style like they are doing. Especially with all the economic threats the employees and the company are facing these days. My hat is off to them!!!!!
Of all the book, I think the most telling part that sticks out in my mind was at the end of the text on page 113 when mentioning the European Pirelli tire engineers. Not sure if I should type in that part and spoil it for you? Yes Kevin it is a great book, and you have some great photos in it as well!

Just got my copy of the book today. Looks like it'll hold me over for at least 1-2 days
I'm a fast reader (pictures help).

Camaro: A Legend Reborn
I didn't see another thread about this. Did anyone else pick this book up? I just got mine today from Barnes and Noble for $30, I had to order it. The book is awesome and has tons of developmental pictures I had never seen before. I highly recommend it.

I bought mine Saturday. Read it all by Sunday.
Some really good insights into some of he early goings on regarding the car. If you don't appreciate FBODFATHER's passion after reading this book, you never will. Now, they need to issue a second edition with the correct HP, Torque and Mileage numbers. Otherwise, thoroughly enjoyable read.

I just started reading mine tonight! So far so good, and such a wealth of information for someone like me who just recently started learning the history of the Camaro. This is a book that everyone purchasing a Camaro should have IMO. Looking forward to reading it many times over!
BTW thanks to F-bodfather for keeping this dream alive and making it reality!

Pretty simple, when this book was written the Camaro was planning on being released as a 2009 model. They could have updated all the info and waited to release it or release as they did. I am for one glad they chose the latter.
