Tune Hesitation

So, I love HP Tuners. I did a scan of my car to find out where the hesitation is. This is gonna be a bit long, but I got 'pictures' ;o). Did all of this testing on a private road a friend let me use...

First a pic before going WOT and getting into the PE settings:

Next start of WOT -- Note the timing being pulled and the fuel pressure:

More timing pulled (NOT in PE yet!):

Getting ready for PE, trims zeroed:

In PE mode:

Pressure dropping, so is timing:

Pressure rising, in FPCM 'acceleration mode', negative timing:

Pressure rising, more timing pulled:

Pressure in the 80's, timing pulled PE Mode still:

Pressure dropping (still good), yet timing advancing:

Major pressure drop, some timing, still in PE mode:

Things rising, still in PE Mode:

Aux Pump kicks in again still in PE Mode:

Out of PE Mode, BIG changes:

So, it looks like 2 issues:

PE Mode, and the Aux pump may need to be tweaked to turn on sooner and stay on for a bit.

Will continue to investigate and look for answers, until Ryan (Or Dave) have time to check this out...

Thanks!

Well, diag 101 says check for a loose connection, and, based on how the pump was kicking on and off, that is just what I did. I found on the pump the nuts were loosen -- enough that I could move the wires.

So, I'm gonna take it out and see if that was it -- from the pics, it sure looks like that is part of the issue.

I'll give it a try and see. If it solves it, I'll scan it again just to validate.

This scanner is AWESOME -- would not have know to look for a loose connection if I did not see the pump going off/on/off/on again...

I'll keep y'all posted!

Yeah, its logged -- 75% close to the bottom in the pics ;o)

So, below 2000 rpm, seems to accelerate fine, above that, (2k >) hesitates. So, I'll need to log again to see if it drops fuel pressure again.

I did check the fuel pump connections again, and they are tight -- no, didn't over tighten them -- just tightened enough to make sure they don't move ;o)

So, its still continues, but, I'll find out what I need to log from Dave or Ryan...

E-85 Gas Cap!

OK, decided to add an E-85 gas cap -- to avoid the panic look I got when I added E-85 in TN ;o)

This is from a 2015/2016 GM SUV:

Part # 22921366 (GT359)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/22921366-GT3...53.m2749.l2649

Fits perfect:

Gonna drive it around and make sure, so far, no issues! BTW, they mean 1 click!

The best part I have found with the HPtuners is that now I can be obsessed and waste hours on the Camaro without having to buy any new parts! (most of the time)

It has paid for itself 10 fold just from keeping me distracted!!

haha!

I love it. EFI Live is the same, so much fun reading and learning...

I have the Tuning School course (home with vids and books) too. It's awesome...
