The car show this past Saturday was a bit wet. A few rain showers came through during the show, the car looks like crap now...hehehe. It was going to get a cleaning anyway before the Rodgers show. Also dropped my front tires off this morning to get mounted. Those will be put back on the car tonight after my gym time. On Friday night a good friend decided to shoot himself in the head. He was going to be a father in 4 months. We had just got done celebrating the gender reveal with his wife and family earlier that day. He had gone to the bar with his best friend, and when he got home was yelling in his wife's face talking about she was going to know what it was like for him when he was in the desert(ex military). He eventually got his handgun and loaded it so she called the cops and another mutual friend of ours, so me and 2 friends hauled ass over there. Our small town cops simply didn't know how to handle this situation at all. I actually took it upon myself to walk up to him and try to calm him down. After about 15minutes of talking to him, I already knew his mind was made up on what he was going to do. For about 2 hours I tried and tried to convince him to give me the gun or to set it down. But he eventually decided to shake my hand and asked f I could go get his wife(whom was with the cops behind their vehicles on the road). I told him I knew they wouldn't let her go over but that I would try. I walked back to him and told him they wouldn't allow it, so he then walked towards the cops with the gun to his head, walked up to her and hugged her and kissed her on the forehead, before he walked out into the field, he got about 300 feet into the field and then pulled the trigger. He was taking to a local emergency room where he was stabilized and then life flighted to a bigger hospital. He underwent 2 hours worth of surgery and when finished the surgeons told us at very minimal he was expected to be paralyzed on the left side. Well Saturday night he had many strokes and mini seizures, which meant everything has turned for the worst and they expect him to be completely brain dead within the next day or two. Friends and the cops were telling me "you've got some balls to do what you did" and all I can think about is how I failed. I waited and waited for the opportunity to disarm him, it just wasn't there, he knew enough to keep that gun secured. I don't know if I did it out of bravery or stupidity but I just couldn't imagine someone else going through what my family went through last year when my dad took his own life.

So sorry for your loss brother. But it's not you. You can do everything right, and still lose a good battle. Whether you were there or not, he was battling demons that he could not control. Be strong, be there for his wife. A good friend, is still a good friend. You do what you need to do this week and be where you need to be. So sad man, so sad.

thats some ****ing bullshit. no one is doing shit for our veterans, government treat these guys like absolute tools. good men go to war and come back with some serious ptsd. no one gives enough respect, appreciation, and thought. honestly bro you're still a winner in everyones book. i hope the best for your friend, stay strong. i understand what you mean by "failing". failing is when you dont try and give up. trying and trying for 2 hours straight means something doesnt it?

I'm sorry you had to go through that with your friend. You didn't fail, I know right now it feels like you did, but you tried for 2 hours that is not failing.
