The Colorado interests me as well, but only because it is smaller than a full size truck. I doubt there will much fuel economy savings. I have a 2014 SRX that weighs 4277 lbs(same as Colorado), 308 hp 3.6l and 3.39 gears. (FWD). I have seen city mpg as low as 13.8 mpg, which is what my wife's Tahoe, my GTO and my v8 2009 SRX frequently does/did.
At 78 mph it gets 23 mpg at best. Slow down to 68 mph and it will get 26/27 mpg. So 1-2 mpg better at the most on the hwy.

Tramtwo, I don't know jack about the car biz other than a few pearls of wisdom that I've read in this very thread, but I do remember that time changes everything.

What happens now at GM is almost certainly going to be a reflection of how the upper management responds to this event.

There are two notable strikes in recent memory, but there have also been some real home runs from the design teams, so I'm saying they are still in the game.

Pure drama in my opinion. Company's have survived worse. There will be payouts. However, even the media has already moved on...GM isn't going anywhere.

If they could pull off 28 highway that would be 4 more than the 4.3 Silverado. Pretty decent if they can do it and even more impressive if a 4WD model can achieve those numbers.

I think they'll be fine. Money is the biggest deciding factor on them staying around, much like it was when it appears they decided to sweep a known safety problem under the rug. The decision makers that made the wrong choices, if proven guilty, should be upheld to the fullest extent of the law. I just hope that the innocent in the company don't suffer too much from this situation. It's another costly learning experience but GM is certainly not the only company to experience recall problems. Remember fight club?

OK, back to the previous question.

Who thinks there is a reasonable chance that that we might get a ZL1/V with the LS9 in it for the last year of GEN 5?

Only if they mothballed engines and planned ahead for it. Possible but not likely. Plus because of the HP bump in the LSA it would only be a 50 HP improvement for a $10,000 or so premium for the hand built engine.

If the ZL1 had been called Z28 or Z/28 what would the reaction have been from a.) the faithful and b.) the general Camaro enthusiast?
Early on I lobbied hard against the ZL1 being called the Z28 and took alot of crap for that. My angle was the ZL1 label was more fitting. Save the Z28 to rescue the name from it's recent past for a track animal if one was ever built.

But really though a label is only a label. Not that big of a deal to most. Sorry I guess I am not a faithful, more like an occasional drive by interloper. Also sorry JP is not around here much anymore. He was a big help to me to get a better understanding of my Camaro SS and how to get the most out of it for the least $$. Many thanks.

I honestly can't tell which end is the front and which is the rear -- so I'm just guessing from the wheels...
