True story..just ask my EX wife.

Seems to me a simple fix for these would be to "twist" the key blade about 45 degrees, which would put the angle at such a position (with the car on), that instead of pushing the key counterclockwise with an errant knee, which would turn it off, an errant knee would push the key clockwise, or the start position.

Anyone want to try it out with a spare key?

The recall will require separating the key from the fob
and replacing the key. The original key will be scrapped.

The customer can contact the dealer to have parts ordered
and once they arrive can have the recall performed. The
customer brings the car to the dealer with the car,
proof of ownership and both sets of keys. The fobs will
be reworked and the new keys programmed.

New vehicles will begin shipping from Oshawa on June 23rd
with the new key and fob

Maybe there is a light at the end of this tunnel soon....

That is nice BUT...the new keys are not available yet.....once they are ordered it is a 3-4 week wait

Low demand=low prices=low trade in value.

Dramatic? How about putting deep thought into things? I'm putting thought into each investment I make - not sure if you do the same, probably not since you think I'm being dramatic.

All the general populous hears is recall, key or not, it stains the name.

I don't see it decreasing demand for the Camaro, people will either see it one of 2 ways, 1: like most of us will realize its a political move and has nothing to do with a defect or safety. 2: will think it was a proactive move and the car is "fixed" and safer.

And both of those will be quickly forgotten and overwritten in the publics mind with the next big news story. People have a very short attention span these days.

This whole thing is just stupid, does this country even have common sense anymore? From GM to these guys that are so worried that they feel they need to comply too the recall, it really seems common sense is contraband these days..

How the hell did we as humans ever survive before the year 2000? I'm mean really if the cars today are so F37KING unsafe maybe it's time these manufactures go back to the 1950's, some of these people really need to get clue, quit waiting for someone to tell you what to do, and just be smart about what you do..

The Cars today are safer then they ever have been in the history of automobiles..

How hard is it to just have some common sense with the key you own?

I'm thinking the set-up will look something like the new '14 Sierra/Silverado have . They have the same type of key 'blade' and a separate remote fob.

Received a message from my Service Advisor (son-in-law) that if I don't comply my warranty may be affected. Since I turned over 40k this past weekend I don't see this as major, unless I blow it up. I'll talk to him to see what kind of BS they've programmed him with. BTW, rode in a Malibu today that has the key in an even more open area than the Camaro. Haven't heard anything about a recall on the Malibu!

My dealer can't make one, they ordered my third key from GM using the VIN.
It was $85 cut and programmed and took three days for delivery.
That was August 2013.

Oh, and from Chanute Air Force museum.
Yes, in 2013 I needed one fob replaced on a GM car. On the phone, they told me I needed to bring the title, but when I showed up with the car and one fob, there were no questions asked.

I had the title with me, but I was not going to show it unless absolutely necessary. It's a BS requirement if you already have a key that works in hand.

Simple answer No. seems more and more the people need someone to tell them how to do everything. Still waiting for instruction on how to wipe your butt with the way everything is going that one has to be around the corner.

On the key wont change mine out. I like it being all one piece.

Talked to my insurance today. If you get a recall and don't follow up on getting it done. And something happens because you didn't follow thru on getting it fixed. This is my insurance telling me. And there is no sign off on it. But if I refuse they will state it as so on the recall slip.

We knew this already. What they don't tell us is how soon those of us with held up cars will get them. 3-4 weeks wait? I can get a Ford Tomorrow.

This is not news (I don't mean to be rude) but we knew the keys had to be replaced. The question is WHEN will those of us with cars held up at the dealers get them?

Nobody knows and that sucks.

I'm 2 steps from a Mustang right now because GM IS STUPID. Just release my car and I'll get the recall done later.
