I have zero idea if anyone kept the judging sheets or exactly how they were judged other than the sheet we posted prior as i didn't judge other than the overall show winner.
I personally made 2 calls in the show. I was asked by the judges who drew Dions car of how they should judge his. I told them to disregard his front fascia and rear fascia and judge based on the rest of the car. We all know his damage looked as good as the rest of the car about 18hrs earlier before the unfortunate accident. I believe that was the fair thing to do. As for the show winner, Mikes was on a level above everything else at the show. I don't know if Sean or the judging group kept the sheets but, i do know it would be highly subjective. The last section was worth 25 points and was nothing but subjective opinion. The judging also requires a good amount of people. We didn't get an abundance of volunteers and had to round up several, literally right before judging began. Also keep in mind, their technically was no 2nd , 3rd or 4th places. They were all runner ups to the class winner. It's possible there could have been a winner with 90 points and 3 runner ups with 89 points. As far as i'm aware only 1 car received a 98 or above. |

Sorry for the late response the judging sheets went in the trash once the group of 4 tallied all of them. I had no part in the judging of the cars (actually going out). The reasons for not keeping the sheets is simple this is not a 1000pt judged show where we have 3 judges all judging the car. Posting the scores causes far too many issues where finger pointing will begin. This persons car was dirty I know I saw it, ect...
I have been doing 1000pt judging as a head judge for 12 years, had my 2001 z28 judged in the 1000pt shows for the same amount of time I will tell you it's all about being clean. When we do 1000pt judging for the winter nationals we have well over 40 judges and on average we judge 8-10 cars in our classes that we are assigned. I was asked why not hire judges the reason is simple the cost is one, and in some cases like Premium Productions the judges are FREE but they also keep 50% of the registration $$$$. I will say this the judging sheet was 100% based off how clean your vehicle is not your mods. If you are in Central Florida area and would like me to go over your car like we do for the 1000pt shows I would be more than happy to get you started and point out the areas that need improvement. My suggestion is come to the show enjoy the company if you win a trophy it's icing on the cake, if you don't win just make sure you have a good time. We know we will never please everyone that’s a given no matter how hard you try some people were just born to complain. I look forward to getting back into the swing of things with the organizers to begin planning on #3. Again thank you to everyone who attended all of the sponsors, and participants, my hats off to all of the organizers without everyone we would not have been able to put on this great event. Sean

Sean, I thought you guys did an amazing job putting this all together considering all the moving parts you all had to deal with. It was fun, informative, relaxed and the resort was amazing. Certainly one of the best car events I have been to in the 20 years I have attended/shown my cars. Only negative it was friggin' cold

Yeah, for the next one, we need to turn up the heat dial just a little bit...like 5 - 10 degrees and turn the wind dial down a bit...about 10-15 mph...we still need a little breeze
![]() Otherwise, you guys did an amazing job with the resort and the festivities!

Again as for the judging sheets if we did a 1000pt judged show we would offer them for people to pick up, for this type of show it's not possible I have learned from my many years of judging it’s best not to open up that can of worms (18 years of judging car shows)I have seen it time and time again. The only thing I will say is the 2010, 11, and 12 V6 classes were the closest classes that were judged, if I recall correctly from the people who tallied we had if I recall 3-4 cars in each year off by 1 point from those who won awards.

Always go for fun...sometimes winning an award is just a nice extra.
Side note: I was one of the judges for the show. It is very difficult to judge all these great cars...yes, I may not like some of the things that others do to their cars but I'm sure there are plenty of people that don't like mine either. When I judge a car first I look at condition, paint in good shape, no major issues or damage, interior not worn. Then cleanliness...is the car clean! Did they take the time to wipe out the wheel wells, clean inside the wheels, down in the engine, etc. you get the idea. If I have a tie or close score that is when I look at the overall theme or where the owner is going with their ideas. |
