C.H.E. CHE Trunnion Upgrade
Trunnion -- yes, that is how they spell it.
Instructions: ![]() Typical Replacement except, the C.H.E do not need to be pressed in! So, I started by pressing out the stock trunnions in my new rockers using a 9/16 and 7/8 socket. Note how the stock trunnion and bearings are inserted and then how I use the 'flat' side of the rocker to rest against the 7/8 socket -- makes it easier to push out the stock trunnion set: ![]() notice how the sockets are setup with the rocker as I press out both bearings and trunnion: ![]() out: ![]() I took out the 9/16 socket, then I took the rocker and the 7/8 socket over to a ziplock bag, then emptied the contents -- that way, I didn't loose the needles -- filled the bag up! do that 15 more times -- this is all of the stock trunnions out: ![]() ![]() and what they look like: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Everything scotch brighted and cleaned per instructions and ready to go: ![]() ![]() Now, the C.H.E. trunnion kit is easy to install, you just slip on one bushing (lubed), slide in the trunnion (lubed), slide the other bushing on (lubed) then use the snap-ring to close off one end, then turn it over, and snap ring the other. Test rotation and line up the 'flat' spot in the trunnion to the top! Its that simple!: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() One set done (exhaust part # 10214664)!: ![]() ![]() Now the intake (offset, part # 12569167) are done doing it the same way: ![]() ![]() Bagged 'n tagged ready for GPI: ![]() Now. C.H.E. does give you '1' extra snap ring, but still, 'be careful' ;o) This is an awesome kit, very easy to install -- and best of all, it's C.H.E. and they saved me $250 -- doing it myself! -Don

Well, damn, the Mishimoto Sandwich is leaking again. Was going to drive it tonight, but not with a leak.
It must be the lines are just not long enough and causing a 'pull' on the sandwich. I've asked Mishimoto if they can create longer lines (want to keep it the same material). If not, I'll either remove it or, make my own (don't really have the time for that). Hope to find out tomorrow, its not Mishimoto's fault, just I have a stack of coolers and their lines are just for OE setup... Sometimes, you just gotta go with the flow... -Don

Went to RaceFlux and ordered custom sized hoses to fit with the Mishimoto Cooler.
Ordered a 59" (54" from Mishimoto) 90° with 45° AN-10 fittings, and a 70" (65" from Mishimoto) dual 90° fitting AN-10 oil cooler hoses. Custom made and 30% off! RaceFlux sends you to anhosefittings.com to get them custom made -- that should solve my tight fitting lines! Should have them by Thursday! Nice to have that option... -Don

And he said nobody else has reported that issue. Just me. My accessory pulleys are no different from any other lsa motor. I don't get it.

Yep, my conversion is different but, really, he should include the barb for that price and, give the option for direction of hole. I too would expect them to drill in the exact same location. Have to agree with you on that...

Are you going with the typical 3 belt LSA setup on your new motor?

No, decided to keep it the way it is. I would have done the ADM update, but want to keep VVT, just to be different ;o).
LSA block, LS3 Callis forged crank and H-beam rods, 10.5 compression (no sense in giving up hp) should be a great combo... With the current blower setup, should be nice! I'm getting the Harmoic Balancer machined for the crank key-way, that will make taking off/on the balancer the way it should be... -Don

Steve from Mishimoto contacted me and they are going to work with me on the sandwich plate! Can't argue about their customer service!
Getting a new sandwich plate and filter bolt. Gave me some suggestions too... Still going to update the lines but, love the fact their willing to help me... -Don

Alright! Aaron from GPI sent my cam specs:
225/247 .637/.630 lift 119 LS (Lobe Separation Angle) 113 IC (Intake Center Line). Aaron says it will be 'smooth and powerful!!' ! Will be based off the 5150 core (pretty much all VVT cores are) so very reliable core! Info about the 315612 core (its a 5150 standard core for VVT -- same as what GM uses -- since the core #'s matched): http://camshaftmachine.com/wp-conten...2015-01-30.pdf search for part no 315612 Current specs: ![]() -Don
