My new oil cooler hoses are in! I purchased these from Improved Racing's hose site:
anhosefittings.com Custom made with fire-sleeve too (30% off too!): ![]() These are the lighter weight hose and all back for a more 'stealth' look. Steve from Mishimoto informed me that my replacement sandwich plate is on the way! Should have that in a couple of days. Hope to have it all by Saturday so I can finally get this baby put to bed! -Don

Aaron got the keyway milled:
Won't have to worry about pinning or the 'anti rotational' washer! More parts to send to GPI -- getting closer to fun time! -Don

Re consider the diamond washer. For best pulley to pulley alignment. If you want to get picky. Lol. The LSA in the ZL1 still uses it even though it's keyed.

I'm sure Aaron will install one as a precaution. Just didn't want to worry about pinning the crank anymore -- crank's keyed, so, now the pulley can be setup easier if I ever have to remove it.
But, you're right -- the diamond washer it the right way to go. I have it with the pulley so we'll be using it. Its already setup for a keyway so, better to have it than not... Just in case folks want to know what we're discussing: ![]() http://www.lingenfelter.com/product/...l#.WaRC8MiGPIU And I also have the washer itself without the rubber holder (that keeps it on the balancer) -Don

Got time yesterday, between the rain, to install the updated hoses -- what a difference. The extra length gave me the room to run the lines the way the documentation stated, along side of the alternator, and all the lines fit just where they needed to.
I did, however, have to use dawn and water mix to allow the silicone fire-sleeve to 'slide' as I was installing them -- there is NO WAY you'll ever get these silicone sleeves to slide into place otherwise. I removed the sandwich, cleaned everything up again, and got it ready for re-assembly -- I do have a new sandwich plate coming from Mishimoto (great Customer Service), but I needed to know if the new lines really fixed the problem. I'll install the new sandwich when the new motor goes in. Here is how all this finally hooked up: New stealth black hoses (air dam installed after initial test): ![]() Much better routing (along side of the alternator like it should be): ![]() Routing to the sandwich and how hoses hooked up nicely: ![]() Sandwich plate and header clearance: ![]() ![]() ![]() I can place my hand between the hose and header so about 2" clearance -- and the fire-sleeve is added security! Took it out for an hour drive -- no leaks at all and, with the extra length, I won't have to worry about any 'pulling' when under acceleration! Checked after the run last night and this morning, dry no leaking anywhere. I'll run this for a week, then, do a check on the banjo fittings as well as the hoses -- just to make sure nothing loosened up. I did notice that my oil cooler t-stat seems to open up around 200° -- which is fine by me -- allows the engine to burn off any condensation! The hoses were 59" (length of hose without fittings) for the 90°/45° fitting hose, and 70" for the 90°/90° fitting hose. With my stacked coolers (HX, Trans, Oil cooler), this gave me plenty of wiggle room. The originals were 54" and 65" Stainless steel. RaceFlux's site: http://www.raceflux.com/ Nicely done too! -Don

Hey Don,
wanted to let you know about this event. us locals are putting on an event for the nashville cars and coffee group. saturday is helmets off touring laps all day. a good shake down day for changes, and an opportunity to give rides to anyone and everyone. any seat with a seat belt can have someone in it for a look at what we do out there. sunday we have three groups. helmets on faster lead follow, intermediate solo and advanced solo. im helping put this event on with my friends from Final Finish here in BG, we are trying to introduce road course events to a new type of customer. should be some exotics and rare cars running. let me know if you think some of the other members here would like this. i dont want to push it on anyone but its dirt cheap for two days of fun and we are working to do some fun stuff for everyone. the karts will be running and there will be a car show/display also. Took it out again tonight for an hour drive, looks as if the new hoses have taken the pressure off the sandwich. No leaks! Topped off the oil, and will keep driving it for a while to be sure no leaks show up, looking good for now...
