So I got a cracked dash. Apparently this is pretty common and that its the airbag opening.

Here's more about it:

Yep ... read up on that a while back. Hoping mine doesn't do the same. But I think I'm in the clear. You still have warranty left to cover a dash repl?

nope, but from what ive read in the thread there are people getting theirs done after the 50,000 mark for free by gm. I mean, GM should replace it as a car that is not even 4 years old to already have a cracking dash is a lack of quality... especially when it isnt isolated.

I'll just talk to the service adviser/manager tomorrow at work and see if they'll push for an employee.

Thank you for sharing this. I had no idea. This is a good point to keep our dashes conditioned. If their dry, they should be more susceptible to cracking, or splitting. This makes me think that those of us that plan on keeping our Camaro's "forever" are eventually going to see this.

I kept mine cleaned and conditioned fairly well...I think its just cheap material at a weak point. I'll find out later if I'll be able to replace it under a warranty issue or not. If not, I'll be looking into a '12 & up dash and a HUD upgrade.

Is a weak point where the airbag is. Thin seam that cracks open, same spot on all affected models.

I hear ya. Just thinking of whatever preventive measures we can take. May not make a difference either way.

Saw a truck load heading south on 85 the other morning, too dark out to grab a pic. All but one or two on the trailer had the 1LE/ZL1 black wheels ... couldn't make out any other details.
