DSSV damper cost is almost double that of the MRC. GM will be using MRC across a larger number platforms. As they do, the cost will come down. If MRC is standard on the SS as we expect, they would most likely be used on the 1LE, maybe with a larger range of program options on more track tuned options.

I figured they would be too expensive for something like the 1LE.

From a pure track handling perspective, is the performance of the MRC better than a good set of hydraulic dampers?

These 20% off deals are depressing. I need to quit doing this to myself and looking at what everybody is getting theirs for. Somebody with my same options plus a sunroof got their car 10 grand cheaper than mine. I keep reminding myself of all the fun I've had with my car this past year.

Early on, the MRC units struggled on track with heat build up. They are much improved in that regard. The speed of the processors and dual wires speed the reaction time. The new C7 Z06/7 is MRC equipped.

The DSSV units used in F1 have a quick change valve system that gives teams the ability to tune them track side.

For the enthusiast that runs road courses the limitation of either the MRC or DSSV production units is they are not adjustable. You can't tune them. If you are running a Z/28 there is little need to tune the dampers as long as you run the OE spec wheels, tires and springs. That said, they are so good I haven't heard many complaints. If you want control of your setup, a high quality set of at least double adjustable coilovers gives you the ability to change spring rates and dial in your setup.

In the not too distant future I see us being able to get into the MRC with some type of tuning software. For the DSSV units, we just have to pony up a small fortune for the F1 style units.

Now is there was a way to lower a DSSV or MRC damped vehicle and not alter the jounce travel or suspension geometry the need to adjust the damping would be reduced

Check these out. They remind me of a shotgun shell. No bleed required. Very very cool.

I honestly would rather have a good hydraulic damper that would be easier to adjust or change if need be unless the suspension is on the level of the Z/28 where it's about as good as you need. The ZL1 should have the MRC so it can be good on the track and the street but the 1LE should be more track focused, just not as hardcore as the Z/28.

So the CTS-V specs were released. I'm thinking that's a good sign the 6th gen will be at Detroit.

I wonder if they will continue the tradition of having cheaper front brakes than the ZL1?

15.4" two piece rotors with 6 pot Brembo calibers don't seem all that cheap to me. Maybe those will be the standard SS brakes and the ZL1 will get CCBs.

Love your optimism but it's a stretch to Jump from a cadillac intro to confidence in a Chevy.

CTS-V.........another example of how GM is trying to get me to retire later.
